Weekly Staying Connected, May 8
Major's Moment
Traveling with my sister Ann to Washington D.C. this past week with our family friend, Rachel, was never on my things to do list. Without my husband, kids, longer than a weekend, and not having to do with a church related event - I was a bit apprehensive of the whole trip. We had no set plans while traveling to D.C. and literally created our daily plans ... daily!
We experienced D.C. to the fullest: museums, monuments, memorials, cathedrals, protests, embassies, street closures for dignitaries, secret serviceman, restaurants, lots of walking and ... the Metro (so fun!).
Our family friend hosted us, dropped us off and picked us up every day. She educated us on things around us as we ate in restaurants or drove us through town. She gave us ideas of what to do and at the end of the night we'd spend more time talking in the house while eating snacks. Although she was still working, she found ways to spend time with us and let us know that she cared.
By the end of the we jokingly called her "mom" although she was around our same age. Today let's think God for the "moms" in our lives who do so much to encourage us to step out and have adventures and most of all love us.
Happy Mother's Day!
