Holiday Greetings

As we conclude 2022, and break for the winter holiday, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all who help make Brookdale an amazing place to be. We are a community with many gifts and talents, which we share daily with one another and most important, with our students. From the classroom, to your living room and all points in-between, our collective efforts to raise the whole child are filled with passion, commitment and a willingness to make decisions that may be hard in the present, but will have a positive and lasting influence in the future for all.

Thank you for ALL you do each and every day for your children!

Warm regards,

Mrs. Holman

District Survey

You will be receiving an email from Panorama Education. The Franklin Pierce School District is partnering with Panorama Education to better understand families experiences with the school and district. Your responses to the survey are confidential - this means that no one will see your individual responses. WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey below.

Report cards

Report Cards – It’s hard to believe that we are already through the first trimester of school! Teachers have worked hard to put their report cards together in a way that reflects student progress toward end of the year standards. Scores will reflect students’ progress toward end of the year grade level standards. If a student receives a / or X in a standard it means that the teacher doesn’t have enough information to give a score (/) or has not introduced the standard yet (X). Report cards will be going home on Friday, December 9. Please take time to review your child’s report card with them and don’t hesitate to contact the teacher if you have any questions.

WINTER WEATHER - LOST & FOUND

It's December, and that means the weather forecast is getting colder! We do go out to recess every day so it is important that students have warm coats and shoes for outside. If your child is missing their coat, please have them check out lost and found! We have many student coats and hats just waiting to be claimed. All unclaimed clothing will be given to a charity during Winter Break. Please be sure your child's name is in their coat, so it can be returned if left on the playground.

Speaking of weather, it sounds like snow may be in our future. Please be sure to check our district website www.fpschools.org for news regarding late starts or snow days.

winter break

School will dismiss at the regular time, 4:05, on Friday, December 16th for Winter Break. School will resume on Tuesday, January 3rd. We will see you in 2023!

School Delays and Closures

As the weather becomes colder, it is important that you have a plan for emergency school closures and limited or delayed bus runs. School may be delayed or canceled in the case of bad weather or an emergency. If the regular school schedule is changed, local radio and television stations will be notified.

"School Closed" means that all schools will be closed for that one day only. All school related activities will be canceled. If schools close early, parents are asked to make arrangements for their child's care.

"Late Start" means that all schools will start late and transportation will be delayed by the amount of time specified for that one day only. Breakfast will not be served on late start days. School related activities may or may not be altered.

Families can expect to receive information about school closures and delays in the following ways:

  • Recorded Telephone Message contact the main office at your child's school to ensure your contact information is up to date
  • SMS Message for families/staff who have opted-in, click here if you would like to opt-in

IMPORTANT SCHOOL REMINDERS

STUDENT EARLY DISMISSAL – If your child has an appointment and is leaving before the end of the school day, please make sure you send a note that morning letting the teacher and the office know. Also, please allow enough time for pick up. To preserve precious class time, we do not call students to the office until you have checked them out in person (remember your ID).

SCHEDULE CHANGES - The end of the day at Brookdale is very hectic. If you forgot to send a note in the morning (which is preferred) and need to call the school with a change to your child’s schedule, please do so before 3:15 p.m. After 3:15 the office is busy assisting students and parents and will not be able to answer your call or get a message to a student before they leave for the day. All end of the day schedule changes must be made through the office, not with the classroom teacher. Thank you!

UPDATE CONTACT INFORMATION - If any of your information has changed (address, contact info., email address, etc.) please contact the office right away. This year more than ever, it will be important to have the most current information. Also, let us know what your preferred method of contact is - phone, email, text. You can reach the office at 253.298.3100.
