CMS HISPANIC HERITAGE CELEBRATION!
We had a fantastic Hispanic Heritage Celebration last Sunday afternoon! Our day was full of joy, music, dancing, cultural sharing and, of course, amazing food! Our families and friends proudly dressed in traditional clothing, shared delicious foods, sang, danced and had fun, fun, fun. The excitement was contagious! CMS families and staff, as well as members of the community, joined in the festivities.
Special thanks to Juliana Nunez-Smith for organizing this amazing event! Her attention to every detail made this a truly memorable event!
Also thanks to the CMS PTA for their continued support and Ms. Murray and the CMS students for the beautiful performance.
Finally, thanks to Mr. Thomas for continually promoting diversity and inclusion and providing opportunities where all students and families feel welcome.

BEGINNING OF YEAR TESTING RESULTS
The Beginning of Year assessment window has closed. Parents should expect to receive their children’s reports by the end of October.
Grades K-3 DIBELS Reading Assessment Reports will be sent home via your child’s backpack.
- Grades 2-8 NWEA Student Progress Reports, (Grade 2 - Math), (Grades 3-8 - Math & Language Arts) will be distributed to parents via School Messenger email.
CMS HALLOWEEN 2021!
This year we will celebrate Halloween with an outdoor Halloween Parade on Friday, October 29 at 2:00 pm. In the event of rain, our parade will be moved indoors. If, weather permitting, our parade is held outdoors in the CMS backyard, parents are invited to attend. Parents will not be able to attend an indoor event. We hope to live stream our parade.
Children should come to school dressed in their costumes. Please keep in mind that costumes must be appropriate for school, no weapons, blood, or inflatables; and children must be able to sit comfortably at their desks and use the bathroom without assistance. Children who do not celebrate Halloween may come to school dressed in their pajamas. During the parade, alternate activities will be planned for children who do not celebrate. Classroom activities will be held after the parade. Mr. Thomas will provide a special treat for all students.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Parents please park in our alternate lot/basketball court.
- If you are planning to pick up your children early, you must do so by 2:30 pm and sign them out at the front desk.
SNACKS FOR SOLDIERS!
Monday, October 25 is the last day to contribute to the Snacks for Soldiers collection. Donations may be brought to the Halloween Happening this Friday. The PTA will also be collecting donations Monday afternoon at pick-up. PTA members will be posted near the playground and will collect donations while you are waiting. If you plan on bringing a donation Monday afternoon, be prepared and ready to pass your donations out the window while you remain in your car.
LOST AND FOUND
THE CMS Lost and Found is located in the walkway between the Kindergarten Hallway and the gym. Items recovered from the playground or around the building are brought to the Lost and Found bin in this location. We recommend that you put your child's name in clothing, jackets, lunchboxes and other personal items.
