Groundhog Gazette

March 2023

From the desk of Dr. Lance

Welcome to March! Though we are not officially in March, I wanted to send this out a few days early as we have some important events at the beginning of March (Kindergarten Registration, on March 2) that I wanted to pass along. Also, please see the information below regarding parent input for classes next year as well as the Parent Engagement Survey. We had a fabulous February celebrating Groundhog's Day, the 100th Day of School, and Valentine's Day and our Boy's Basketball team had tournament play. We are nearing the end of the 3rd Quarter (March 17) which is also an Early Release Day (1:45 PM). We are excited to see warm temperatures for our students to enjoy during their recess times! If you have lost a coat or jacket, please have your student look in the Lost and Found area as we have many items located there. Finally, thank you to the PTA and all those that attended the Bingo Night-it was great to see everyone and a fun night was had! Thank you for all of your continued support for Amity!

Parent Input 2023-2024

Parents are invited to give input into the decision making process for class assignments for the 2023-2024 school year. To give input, parents should send a letter or email to Dr. Lance. That input should include your child's learning style and/or the learning environment that suits him/her best. The classroom teachers and other staff that work directly with students collaborate, create class lists, and then submit them to the principal for final approval. A lot of time and attention is dedicated to this process in an effort to ensure that our classrooms are set up for success!

Including the name of a teacher does not guarantee placement in that teacher's classroom.

The deadline for parent input is Friday, April 7, 2023.

Parent Engagement Survey

Idaho’s custom parent survey is an important part of our focus on serving and engaging parents in our schools’ work. This survey gives you the chance to tell us how schools are doing in meeting your needs.

To access the survey:

· visit Parent Engagement Survey

· pick your student’s school from the drop-down menu and complete the survey.

· If you have students in different schools within our school district, you can submit a

survey for each school.

The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete and your responses are anonymous. You can submit your survey until March 31, 2023.

We will use these survey responses to find ways to maximize satisfaction, engagement, and communication. Additionally, the state will report the results and the number of responses on Idaho’s school report card (https://idahoschools.org/).

If you want to see a copy of the survey questions, visit https://sde.idaho.gov/assessment/surveys/. Remember though, you have to use the custom website above to complete and submit the actual survey.

Thank you for participating in the survey. Teachers and students also have the opportunity to complete the survey. The feedback is appreciated and valued.
