How It Spreads

  • Infexcted food handlers don't wash their hands after using the restroom and they touch food or equipment
  • It comes from contaminated Water and Ready-To-Eat foods
  • Common Foods: Raw foods, Contaminated Shellfish, cooked and uncooked foods thatan infected person has touched

Common Symptoms

  • Mild Fever
  • General Weakness
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Jaundice (Appears later)

Prevention Methods

  • Exclude staff that are infected from the operation
  • Exclude Staff that have jaundice
  • Wash Hands
  • Avoid bare hand-to-hand contact with ready-to-eat food
  • Practice personal hygiene
  • Purchase shellfish from approved suppliers
