Early Life of Roald Dahl
Roald Dahl was born on September 13, 1916 in Llandaff, South Wales. His parents were Norwegian, but moved to Wales. His father died when he was three his older sister died of appendicitis. Weeks later his father died of pneumonia at the age of 57 while on a fishing trip in the Antarctic.
Writing Career
He started to want to be a writer when he was in the war, his plane crashed and left him no longer being able to fly. In 1942 he came out with his first short story called "A Piece of Cake". He came out with most of his most famous books in the 1960's for example he published James and the Giant Peach, his short story collection 'kiss kiss" is published, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are just a couple of examples.
