Kleb Intermediate is so proud to congratulate THREE of our Introduction to Art students who were chosen to be a Top 30 Finalist in the Bayou City Art Festival contest for middle school students. Students planned their artwork and spent a large amount of time working to create a personal artwork that was composed entirely out of small dots, using a technique called Pointellism. Their artwork was placed on display at Spring Street Studios in Houston where multitudes of crowds were able to view and admire them. The top three winners for the Bayou City Art Festival contest will depend on public vote so we need YOUR help!
Go to https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSddv78sZMd839CPJFCmadFYZMn2pzL28fhTKqnHXG2dXThJMQ/viewform by February 25th and help our students hopefully win! The top three places will be announced at the Bayou City Art Festival in Memorial Park on March 27 – 29th.
Congratulations to our artist and their teacher Ms. McDaniel.
Huggins Highlights
Parents and staff, our first Personalized Learning Team training with EdElements in mid-February was amazing! I'm truly excited about deepening our campus commitment to ensuring that every CUB is growing. We focused on really digging in to the outcomes of our student shadowing (each member of the team got to follow a Bearcub for an entire day to get a feel for life at Kleb Intermediate) and empathy interviews to decide what problems personalized learning should be solving for our campus. We also started to create a theory of action based on this...anticipate seeing this in the near future and giving input to the PL team!
Staff, don't forget that TELPAS testing begins today and runs through the end of next week. Ms. Lammers will be out of pocket as our TELPAS administrator, so if you need assistance, contact one of the other offices.
Remember that our March faculty meeting is next week on Tuesday, March 3rd at 8am. This will be both our March meeting and spring semester visit from Dr. McGown. Please make sure these are on your calendar, as it is not the typical first Friday meeting. I changed it for the month of March because, let's be real, nobody wants a staff meeting on the Friday before Spring Break!
Here are a few upcoming notable dates:
Team Leaders meet on Thursday, 2/27 at 8:15
Spring Break is the week of 3/9 through 3/13 (yes!!!)
Spring Pictures are on Wednesday, 3/18
STAAR Sim shutdown days are on 3/24 and 3/25--parents, this will be just like STAAR with no deliveries and alternate lunch schedules
A Note from PTO
8th GRADE CELEBRATION: Mark your calendars for the 8th Grade Mardi Gras Mambo Celebration on May 29 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Klein Multi-Purpose Center. Stay tuned as ticket sales will begin soon. Additional information, including dates for ticket sales, will be posted on the Kleb PTO Facebook page. MEMORY BOOKS: Memory book prices have now increased to $30, but it isn't too late to order one! Go to balfour.com and search for Kleb Intermediate to purchase your student's memory book.
IMAGE SHARE: We need your help to make sure we have great photos of ALL our Bearcubs in action for the memory book! Coaches, club sponsors, parents, and students can all submit your shots of what happens this year through Balfour’s ImageShare website or app (available for both iOS and Android.) You’ll need to create an account and then can send photos directly to a dropbox for Kleb, using project code 022579.
MEMBERSHIP: We are still accepting PTO memberships and welcome registration and payment through our PTO website: https://sites.google.com/site/klebintpto/. Membership Levels include: $10 Family Membership; $25 Bronze Level Sponsor Membership; $50 Silver Level Sponsor Membership; or $75.00 Gold Level Sponsor Membership. Finally, forms and envelopes are available to fill out in the front office at Kleb. The additional donor levels are an easy way for you to support our goals (please remember to ask your company if they will match donations, too!)
VOLUNTEERS: We are always grateful for parent volunteers even at the intermediate school level. In fact, we have several important volunteer opportunities coming up over the next two months including the Teacher Luncheon and 8th Grade Celebration help. Please be sure to register so that we can invite you to participate. You can fill the form out at https://kapo.kleinisd.net/VolunteerForm/.
If you HAVE renewed your form but have not received any emails from Kleb for volunteer opportunities, please email klebvolunteers@gmail.com and ask to make sure that you have been added to the Kleb group.
