A Look Back and Ahead at Professional Learning at RBHS

Week 36 - Professional Learning 3Es - Completing our EL IR

This week during every teacher's PL session, we will complete the EL Internal Review (IR) electronically. Please come with your device prepared to complete the online survey. Also each teacher should bring their annotated copy of the "Teacher Indicators" document from EL to assist them in completing the IR. This information is critical to our planning for our goals for next year. The location will be the Learning Commons Classroom.

Gators of the Week - Work hard. Get smart. Do good.

Gators of the Week: Men's Track and Varsity Softball Succeed

Work hard. This past weekend our Women's Softball team advanced to the winner's game in the district championship to be hosted on Wednesday night at River Bluff. They defeated Summerville on the road to advance to the winner's game. The visiting team, to be determined later this week, would have to beat River Bluff twice in the double header to advance.

Congratulations also to our Men's Track team for winning the Region Championship against a strong field of region opponents on Friday afternoon at Lexington High School. Hats off to Coach Reynolds and his entire coaching staff for leading our men's team to their first Region Championship. Best of luck in our state competition.

Gators of the Week: AP Testing Begins

Get Smart: We wish the best to our over 200 students taking over 300 Advanced Placement tests beginning on Monday with AP Chemistry. The preparation all year will be evaluated as each student engages in their test. Passing scores of 3, 4, or 5 will garner college credits at the next level. You are ready.

Gators of the Week: Mr. Barnhart trains future Engineers in OCP

Do good. Thank you to Mr. Barnhart, one of our STEM teachers, for helping our students get smart in Engineering. He volunteered to teach our students in OCP (Occupational Credential Program) an introductory lesson to engineering with his paper airplane project. Over several sessions during his ILT the next few weeks, he will spend it with our students teaching them a scientific approach to creating prototypes. Mr. Barnhart will conclude with a debriefing session with our students.

Great job students and STEM leader.

Excellent example of doing good for all students at RB.

EL Design Principle in Action

The Responsibility for Learning

Learning is both a personal process of discovery and a social activity. Everyone learns both individually and as part of a group. Every aspect of an Expeditionary Learning school encourages both children and adults to become increasingly responsible for directing their own personal and collective learning.

This week will allow for many students the opportunity to show mastery of content in AP courses. We have full confidence that your preparation in class and outside of class studying and honing your skills will translate to passing scores on the exam. Best of luck to you.
