Miss Abby's Counseling Corner

Abigail Vickery, L.C.S.W. Boulder Creek School Counselor

Hello Wonderful Boulder Creek Families!

Friends - we are on the home stretch! You have championed your children as they have navigated distance learning for the first time and you have been doing an AMAZING job!

Over the past several weeks the counseling corner newsletters have focused on a myriad of different topics such as grief, anxiety, anger, internet safety and self esteem.

This week our focus is on MINDFULNESS.

Mindfulness is an important thing to cultivate in ourselves and in the children we care for. It is not something that comes naturally to us, but once we commit to practicing mindfulness we can reap the many benefits of it. During this chaotic season in our lives mindfulness can bring so much positivity and calm to us if we are willing to practice it!

I want to draw your attention to some of the resources that I have included for you below. In the Resources for Caregivers section there is an infographic that is helpful for you to read over before you discuss mindfulness with your children. Also, there is a great article about its importance in our lives. The last link in the caregiver section is a WONDERFUL community resource brought to us by Shasta County Office of Educations very own Bridges to Success program. Please check out the link and take advantage of the FREE parenting workshops, support groups, and other wonderful resources!

The resources that I have included in the age group sections are for your children as well as for you! If you are able to sit down as a family and talk over the information and even view the videos together I think you will find the time very well spent.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me - I am HERE for you!

With you on the journey,

Miss Abby
