News and Reminders
GREAT NEWS......our car rider line is getting even faster. Most days we do not have any cars waiting by 3:50pm. So, try leaving your home a little earlier so you do not have to get out of your vehicle. Students who are car riders should be picked up before 4:00pm each day.
ATTENTION STRACK WALKERS...this method of dismissal is only for our students who walk home, walk to Strack, or meet their parents and walk home together. This is NOT for any parents driving to school, parking, and picking up their children. It is also not for parents waiting in the Strack pickup line.

- Please help us with our younger Bobcats by putting their name, grade, and teacher’s name somewhere visible on their backpacks.

Starting January 11th parents will receive an email each time their child checks out a book from a Klein library.
The email will notify them of the name of each book their student checks out. This is an automated notification and is now required by Klein ISD.

Beginning in October, we began sending Attendance Notices to all families of students who had 5 or more excused and/or unexcused absences. These attendance notices will continue to be sent every month to all students whose absence number increases from the previous month or reaches a total of 10 or more.
The notice does not specifically pertain to lack of notes, medical or parent notes that have been turned in. It is simply a notice to parents on how many total absences a student currently has.
We appreciate greatly when families send a parent note or medical note with a child to school or enter a note in Skyward. Please remember that these notes must be sent or entered within 5 days of return to school.
Please also be aware that sending or submitting a note does not change that a student had an absence. It is just changed from an unexcused absence to an excused absence but still counts as an absence since the student missed instruction on that day.
These notices are a way for the school to communicate the importance of daily attendance and to always be aware of a child's current number of absences. It also ensures the school communicates to parents that when a student reaches 18 excused and/or unexcused absences, a GPC meeting will be held at the end of the year to determine if a student needs to be retained due to absences.

Cell Phone Policy
Per the Klein ISD Student Handbook, the district permits students to possess personal cell phones for safety purposes; however, these devices must remain turned off during the instructional day, including during all testing, unless they are being used for approved instructional purposes. Without such permission, teachers will collect the items and turn them in to the principal’s office.
If your student carries a cell phone to school, please review these expectations with them.

Important Bus Information
Updates on Benfer buses will be sent after 4:00pm. Please see link above before 4:00pm.
We are currently working to get Smart Tags for all of our students. They have been issued to most of the campus at this time, however there are some students who do not have Smart Tags yet. Blanks Smart Tags have been ordered but are currently back ordered. As soon as they come in, Smart Tags will be printed for those that do not have one. Thank you for your patience.
Smart Tags and Paper Tags have been attached to the back of all student backpacks. Please help to ensure that these tags stay on each backpack.
We are hoping that the Klein ISD Smart Tag system on the buses will be ready to go live soon for parents and families to access. Stay tuned for more information!
Dress Code Reminders
Dress and Grooming- Please assist us with enforcing our dress code which is also being enforced for our campus visitors as well
The district’s dress code teaches grooming and hygiene, prevents disruption, and minimizes safety hazards, and maintains a positive learning climate. Students and parents may determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they comply with the following:
Students may not wear a military uniform to school unless it is in conjunction with a school-approved activity.
Students may not wear suggestive or inappropriately located decorative patches, insignia, or clothing with improper advertising, pictures, slogans, or statements.
An American or any state flag or facsimile thereof may not be attached on a garment in a disrespectful manner.
Hats or head coverings may not be worn in the school buildings.
Appropriate footwear is required.
Any attire or accessory, including blankets, that is distracting, disruptive, or disturbing will not be permitted on school property. This includes outfits that are too short, too revealing, low-cut, see-through, or backless. Underwear-styled garments should not be worn as outerwear.
Hair must be clean and groomed. Any hairstyle that is distracting or disturbing will not be permitted on school property.
Facial hair must be neatly groomed and styled in a way that is not distracting.
No paraphernalia that indicates or promotes gang membership may be worn or displayed (this may include but is not limited to bandanas, chains, jewelry, hip cloths, baggy pants, tee shirts, gang writing, and color codes).
Tattoos, icons, and any other markings on the body that cannot be removed shall be covered at all times in an unobtrusive manner that is not disruptive to the instructional process.
A student who has such markings on his or her body and who wishes to participate in extracurricular activities shall ensure that the markings are covered by the standard uniform for the activity or in another appropriate manner. The principal, in cooperation with the sponsor, coach, or other person in charge of an extracurricular activity, shall regulate and enforce these guidelines.
Students may not wear orthodontic appliances unless prescribed by a medical dentist/ dentist.
Clothing or accessories may not state, imply, or depict hate speech/imagery targeting groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation, or any other protected classification. Examples: swastikas, the confederate flag, othala rune, etc.
Sunglasses may not be worn inside the building.
Clothing and accessories that endanger student or staff safety may not be worn.
Specialized courses may require specialized attire, such as sports uniforms or safety gear.
The required Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) uniform dress code for both boys and girls includes khaki pants worn at the waist (no shorts, Capri pants, skirt, or dress), a solid color leather belt with a small belt buckle, a white, gray, or black shirt with a collar (no logo or writing), and white or black shoes with corresponding colored shoelaces (as needed) and a white, gray, or black sweatshirt (no logo or writing) for classroom appropriate outerwear.
If the principal determines that a student's (or parent's) grooming or clothing violates the school’s dress code, they will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school. For students, if the problem cannot be corrected at school, the principal will work with the student and parent to obtain an acceptable change of clothing for the student in a way that minimizes loss of instructional time. Repeated or severe offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
***Car Rider Arrival*** (Please see map below.)
If your child will be a car rider in the morning please read the following information:
Our arrival will only have one single file drop-off line. Please do not attempt to pass anyone in front of you as this is not a safe practice in the morning for our students.
Also, please do not drop your students off if they are not where the sidewalk begins. This will not make the process go faster, it will just be another unsafe practice for students (Safety is our #1 priority).
Please be sure to come through the car rider line by entering on Kuykendahl Forest Drive next to the Burger King.
All adults must stay in their cars while dropping off students. They are not allowed to walk their child to the classroom.
***Car Rider Dismissal*** (Please see map below.)
If your child will be a car rider in the afternoon please read the following information:
If you are at the front of the line where students are being brought to their cars, please do not drive off until our stop sign person gives you the ok. This is for the safety of our students moving through the lines to be placed in their cars.
During dismissal, if you have a car rider number already, please have it hanging in your windshield (not on the dash) and have it visible throughout the car rider process. Please do not take it down until we get your child(ren) safely to your car.
Please have car numbers for all you are picking up. If you do not have the car number issued by the front office, you will have to park and wait until the line is cleared.
If you have not received your new car rider number please contact the front office before dismissal.
It is extremely important that your child is aware of their car rider number. Please place their car number on their backpack and leave it there so we can expedite our car rider process to the best of our ability.
Here is the LINK to the Bus Station Dashboard so you can track your child(ren)'s bus in the morning and in the afternoon.
We encourage parents with children in grades K-2nd to be at the bus stop or have a responsible adult meet the bus in the afternoon. This assures the bus driver that your child is in safe hands. If no one is available for this purpose, please notify the bus driver that your child can be dropped off unattended.
