Character Trait of the Month - Trustworthiness
The Character Counts Trait of the Month for January is Trustworthiness!
Throughout the month of February our students will have lessons about Caring embedded in their regular classroom instruction, will participate a Character Counts Assembly on Friday March 17, 2023 and will be asked to wear BLUE on as part of our monthly Character Color Day on this same day!
We are extremely excited to continue our Character Counts Program this school year, and encourage parents to contact our School Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Marcelina Guzman for any additional information regarding this program!
Loudenslager Black History Month Celebration
Loudenslager Elementary School has a long standing tradition of celebrating Black History Month through the implementation of student-centered projects, lessons, and activities during the month of February. Prior to the pandemic, we had started a new tradition that included a living museum project, where our students showcased their projects for visitors here at Loudenslager.
Throughout the month of February, students in every classroom have participated in projects ranging from research projects, reflection activities, or digital presentations with each grade level studying a specific time period related to Black History.
These projects will be arranged and organized throughout the halls and classrooms of Loudenslager Elementary School to create a living museum that will be open to our parents and community members from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Monday February 28, 2023.
We are excited to reintroduce our Living Museum style Black History Celebration this year, and we hope to see you at Loudenslager for this event at the end of February. If you have any questions or concerns, I encourage you to contact your child’s classroom teacher or the Loudenslager Main Office at 856-423-2228.
Loudenslager Community Playground Build
We are excited to announce that later this spring, Loudenslager Elementary School will finally be receiving a playground structure for both students and Paulsboro community members to enjoy.
The new Loudenslager playground will be grant funded and as part of this project we will be implementing a community-build model to make this playground a reality for the hundreds of children throughout the Borough of Paulsboro. The community-build model features a supervised playground build that incorporates volunteers from our town or local businesses and organizations to assist with the installation process, which at its conclusion will provide our students with a new safe space to play while instilling a sense of pride by giving back to the community.
Pending approval from the Paulsboro Board of Education, our community build date is set for Saturday April 1, 2023 from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM and we are seeking approximately 150 volunteers from the community to assist with this project. The rain date for this project is set for Sunday April 2, 2023.
Building experience is helpful, but not necessary for participation in this event. We will have members of both the district maintenance crew and the playground manufacturers crew building right alongside the volunteers and ensuring the structure is built properly and safely.
If you or your group is interested in volunteering we encourage you to utilize the volunteer sign-up form. Additional information can be found at https://loudenslager.paulsboro.k12.nj.us/communitybuild, and we encourage anyone with questions to contact the Loudenslager Main Office at 856-423-2228.
