Veteran's Day Roll Call and Chats
In honor of Veteran's Day, Madison would like to invite you or any family member who is a veteran to be a guest speaker at the 2018 Veteran's Day Roll Call and Chats. This event is an opportunity for the Madison staff to help teach our students about Veteran's Day. In order for this event to be successful, each grade level needs veterans to participate in this event.
Our 2018 Veteran's Day Roll Call and Chats will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018. Students will meet together in grade level groups and will ask veterans prepared questions from 8:40-9:10 AM. Having this personal interaction with veterans helps our students learn more about what it means to be a veteran. Coffee and a light breakfast will be available for veterans and their Madison student(s) while our special guests are arriving for this event.
To register for this event, please complete this form and return it to the Madison Office by Friday, November 2nd. If possible, also submit a picture of the veteran who will be attending this event (please label the back of the photo with the veteran’s name) or e-mail a photo to Dr. Wachel: wachelm@usd231.com. These photos will be used to create a short slide show which will be included as part of our school’s morning announcements. (All photos will be returned)
Book Fair Volunteers
PTA Pancake and Bingo Night
A message from our Madison PTA -
Pancake Bingo 2018 was a success! After the final count, we had over 100 additional plates sold over last year and our silent auction allowed us to cover all of our expenses! The support from all of our Bears and Bear Families made this possible!
Thanks to Dr. Wachel, Mrs. Beach, and all the Teachers, Staff, and Custodians that helped to organize the space, get our baskets together, and get the tickets to your kiddos and cleaned up after us. You're all amazing and our children are lucky to have you! And all the volunteers that stood at stations, handed out prizes, called Bingo and took money...you guys are fabulous and without your help, Pancake Bingo wouldn't take place. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You!
Sensory Room Grant
Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word and support our sensory room. Our grant was fully funded and we can't wait to have all of our students use this room to help support their needs as we meet the needs of the Whole Child!

Halloween Costume and Party Information
- Costumes must be appropriate for school. At Madison, we serve students from three-years-old (Early Childhood) to Fourth Grade. Horror and gory costumes are not appropriate for school. A good rule of thumb is to consider if a three-year-old would be frightened by a costume. If so, then it should not be brought to school. Thank you for your help in keeping our costumes appropriate for a school setting.
- Costumes and accessories resembling weapons or weapon look-alikes are prohibited at school. This includes plastic/fake knives, swords, guns, spears, etc. and any item that resembles a weapon.
- Students should NOT wear their costumes to school on October 31.
- Students should bring their costumes to school, and they will change into costumes at 2:00 pm in preparation for the Halloween Parade and Parties.
- 2:00 pm - change into costumes
- 2:15 pm -parade (loop around the playground - weather permitting)
- 2:30 pm - parties (conclude at 3:00 for dismissal preparation)
Party Information:
Families are welcome to join us for the party. We ask that families do not arrive prior to 2:15 as we do not want to interfere with the classroom environment. Thank you for your assistance with arriving after 2:15.
Schedule:
*Early Childhood Families - Please consult your teacher's newsletter for more details on the Early Childhood Halloween parties and schedule.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you to everyone who attended our Parent-Teacher Conferences. At Madison, we are truly blessed to have supportive, dedicated, and committed families to ensure our goal of educating the whole child. At Madison Elementary, it is our goal to hold 100% of conferences. As of Friday, we are currently at 97.6% of conferences being held. Our teachers will continue to try and reschedule any missed meetings to help us achieve our goal of 100%.
