Calling all Travelers!
We are planning for an event this Spring. We need your help. We are looking to highlight different places around the world to compare similarities and differences between global communities.
Video Needs: Would you be interested in sharing your experience living/traveling extensively outside the US? We are looking for people who would be willing to record a brief Flipgrid to be shared with students about a particular country. You can record at home or Mrs. Pollack can help you record in the school library. Here is an example for you to view: Where in the World is Opie? Ideas
Specific questions that we would like answered include everyday things like:
Cultural Foods
Languages Spoken
Length of School Day or Interesting/unique class topics during school
Famous landmarks or places to visit
Your favorite memory or personal experience to share from this place
Please fill out this Interest Form and you will be contacted.
Postcard Project: We are also in need of postcards from locations around the world. These could be blank or sent directly to our school with messages to our school community. They will be used as decorations as we get closer to our event.
Flat Opie: We want our mascot Opie the Eagle to enjoy some travel. You can print out a copy of Flat Opie here: Flat Opie (4 to a Page). Send photos to pollackr@fortmillschools.org. We plan to post photos of our students, family friends, etc. on the screens outside the front office.
Please contact Mrs. Pollack at pollackr@fortmillschools.org if you have questions.

PTO Meeting
Join us Wednesday, January 11th at OPES 7-8pm. This month’s meeting will cover Standardized Testing Across the Grade Levels. We will discuss how they are used by teachers, the school/school district to guide core instruction, and for guiding decisions around such programs as special education, instructional interventions, and Gifted and Talented.
Meetings are in the Library. As always, childcare is provided on-site by the FMHS Beta Club. We hope to see you there!
New playground equipment!
Thanks to the success of the recent Holiday Shop, the PTO purchased new playground equipment for each classroom!
