Upcoming Leadership Opportunities
Emerge Leadership Program
Audience: Students (any)
The Emerge Leadership Program is a weekly workshop program held each semester to help students build their foundational leadership skills while developing a personal leadership philosophy.
By the conclusion of Emerge, participants should be able to:
- Define their personal leadership style
- Define leadership in their own terms
- Demonstrate effective public speaking
- Clarify their personal code of values
Students who wish to apply for a spot in the Emerge program can complete an online application beginning September 6. Applications are due November 16! Apply online by clicking this link!
*Students do not need to be nominated to apply for the Emerge program.
The fall 2021 program will be held in person.
Emerge Leadership Circle is scheduled for Wednesdays from 4-6pm in the Student Center Foster Room. The Emerge program for fall 2021 is tentatively scheduled to begin Wednesday, September 29, and will continue each Wednesday until November 10.
Can't make it this semester? Applications for the spring program will be open in November.
Engage & Excel Leadership Programs
We are looking forward to running both the Engage and Excel leadership programs this fall semester! Those students who are eligible to participate will receive an invitation on September 1.
Engage Leadership Circle is the second level of our weekly workshop programs, and is structured for students who have previously completed Emerge. The Engage program focuses on expanding on the ideas introduced through Emerge while incorporating new topics that are more situated for students who have already built their foundational leadership skills.
By the conclusion of Engage, participants will be able to:
- Define their leadership strengths as learned through the completion of the StrengthsQuest assessment
- Discuss how cultural differences affect leadership styles
- Demonstrate effective public speaking
- Utilize a variety of conflict resolution techniques
Excel Leadership Circle is the culminating Leadership Circle experience, and is open for students who have completed both Emerge and Engage.
By the conclusion of Excel, participants will be able to:
- Further define their personal leadership style through their Leadership Philosophy
- Identify key leadership theories
- Have informed discussions about current issues in leadership
- Identify leaders within their community

The Student Trustee of Worcester State is an elected position that represents all WSU students on various committees and initiatives across campus. This year, Anna Johnson is serving her second term as Student Trustee.

Each year, an SGA President is elected to work with members of the Student Senate and the Worcester State community to ensure that WSU is serving the needs of all its students. This year, Karen Shalev is serving as SGA President.

Chandler the Lancer must be an outgoing individual who works well with others, including children and fans of all ages. Applicants must develop the character of the mascot for the team and perform at most home games.
