NWEA MAP Assessments for the Spring

Once again, our school-wide measure of the NWEA will occur the next few weeks. Some parents wonder why we administer this measure. There are many reasons. 1. All schools need to administer a school-wide measure for Title I compliance. We receive federal funding for Title I and one of the compliance actions is to provide a school-wide measure three times a year. 2. Our Response to Intervention plan requires that we administer a school-wide measure, and hence, the NWEA is the basis for this plan as it monitors our scholars growth and progress. 3. We use the data from the assessment to monitor our curriculum. We use the data to adjust our teaching methods and adjust our scope and sequence of curriculum being taught. We also work with our scholars to show them areas where they can track their progress and take ownership of their learning. This is the ultimate goal that we embrace - that our children take this seriously as it measures what they have learned.

If you have any questions regarding our school-wide measure, please do not hesitate in contacting your child's teacher. Your child's teacher should let you know when they plan to administer the assessment.between May and June.
