Weekly Update #7- October 13, 2023
Greetings GKES Families,
Tomorrow is our GKES Fun Run! There is still time for students to get laps pledged by family and friends. Thank you for your support. So far in addition to raising monies in support of our school, our children have earned a glow stick dance party, popsicle party, and a chance to slime the principal. Start tuned for our final numbers in our upcoming weekly newsletter.
Our GKES Fun Run will take place in the field near the playground. Please sign in at the table as you enter the field, if you will be visiting to cheer on our children as they run, walk, jog their pledged laps. There will be a 100% ID check. Thank you for your understanding. See the Fun Run times below.
It may be a little chilly tomorrow morning, please encourage your child to wear layers and to bring a water bottle with their name on it. All students participate! Thank you.
Pre-K classes: 1:10 p.m. in the gym
Grades K, 2, 5: 9:00 am-10:00 am
Grade 1, 3, 4: 1:00 pm-2:00 pm
Student Give-A-Hoot Ticket Raffle: Students who are demonstrating or showing improvement demonstrating the 3Rs receive Hoot Tickets from the teachers, staff, and administration throughout the week. Student raffles utilizing their Hoot Tickets they have earned will start on Monday in the cafeteria. Items that are part of this raffle are below. Please share this with your child and encourage them to always do their best when at school. Thank you for your support.

The raffle will run for the next two weeks. They may bring their hoots at lunch, on the way to Special, during breakfast or whenever it is convenient for the teacher. Remind your child to place their first and last name on their Hoot Tickets.
Friday, October 20th is an an early dismissal day for our children at 12:45 p.m. Thank you.

We are looking for interested volunteers to sponsor a club for our children this fall and spring. If you are interested in leading a club to nurture our children beyond the school day, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org. Student Emergency Form
Effective communication is critical to the success of St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS). This will be crucial not only for emergencies but for our ability to communicate with families in general. Online Emergency Information Update Forms are now available through the student’sHome Access Center (HAC). Once logged in, directions to access the online form can be found HERE.
