Virtual Spirit Week!

We've got spirit, yes we do! We've Spirit, how about you?

Help us celebrate our graduates with a virtual spirit week! This is a fun but optional way to join our meet and greets, advisories, dance party, talent show, bingo game, and graduation ceremony in spirit gear! You should not be expected to purchase anything special for participating! Have fun, be creative, and remember we are on camera, so appropriate dress codes still apply!

Monday - Memorial Day, no school

Tuesday - Career Day/Professional Day - "When I grow up, I want to be..."

Wednesday - Hero/Character Day - Costumes, book characters, historical figures, and heroes!

Thursday - True Colors Day - favorite colors Day (this could also be your favorite sports team colors/gear)

Fancy Friday - Do it up in your Dress up, fanciest clothes. Movie Star Make-up and dress to impress for Graduation Day.

Talent Show

Join us in celebrating the talent of Tplus students in a virtual viewing party!

Wednesday, May 27th @1:30pm.

A google meet invite and link will follow closer to the date.

This is also part of our virtual spirit week, so come and show your school spirit!

Union leadership opportunity around Covid-19 and re-entry back to school:

The union is seeking members who want to work on a Covid-19 task force. This group will discuss and plan for the re-entry back to school in the fall and also consider teacher rights and responsibilities in terms of distance learning. This is a chance for teachers to ensure that their voices are at the table when decisions are made. It would be great to have Transition Plus representation at these meetings.

Please take a moment to fill out this survey on issues raised by Covid-19: https://forms.gle/U9b86v1HEsLWjY7cA

If you are interested in contributing to this kind of work this summer with the Covid-19 Task Force, please contact Dan Troccoli at dantroccoli@gmail.com.

Also, please let Tia or Liz know if you are interested.

Device problems?

If students/ families are have issues with devices here is the form to fill out . You can either forward the form to your students/families or work with them on filling it out.

We are pleased to announce the following students have been accepted to Project SEARCH for the 2020-21 school year.

At Hennepin Healthcare: Verdiana M, Salado A, Katie K, Mustaf H, Chasity S, Yessinia G-R, and students from Robbinsdale.

At Children's Hospital: Cal N, Zachariah A, Alex M, Charity S, Iqra H, Abdi K and students from Orono, Bloomington and Eden Prairie.

Please congratulate these students! Special thanks to everyone who helped with completing the Project SEARCH applications and to everyone who assisted students with interview prep. It was truly an awesome team effort to overcome the extra challenges this year!

Step Up update

Please remind your students to continue to check their email regarding Step Up. We have 16 students who have qualified for an internship placement. Three of these will be with Mn Trades Academy.

We have 8 students who need to submit a document in order to do an internship, but do already qualify for paid summer training.

We also have 18 students who will not be able to do an internship but who can do paid on-line training. So please remind students to continue checking their email. Contact a Work Coordinator with any questions.

TPlus Library Audio and Ebooks

Hi all, just wanted to share that audio and ebooks are now available for check out through the Tplus school library. There are over 500 audiobooks. And right now, the ebook/audiobook company has temporarily added 10,000 ebooks to our library as a promotion.

Here is link to a screencast video of how to access the audio and ebooks

Here is a link to the starting point for accessing the audio and ebooks through the Tplus library. Unfortunately, I do not think staff can access with their own log in. To test it out so you can assist students, you will need to use a student log in.

From the Community School Collaborative

Hey Everyone! We are continuing to support students' mental health needs during this time of distance learning. We have transitioned to telehealth, so many students meet with us online through Zoom. Some students we still meet in person, with social distancing precautions.

We're open to new referrals, as well, so please keep us in mind as you think of your students needs.

If you have questions about whether a student is a good fit for our services, or want to make a referral, please ask your social worker. Thanks!
