A message from the Principal - Mrs. Bookman
Dear Suffield Family,
We'd like to share some important updates with you regarding the safety and security of our school community:
School Resource Officer: As most of you are aware, Officer Brett Dinkleman from the Brimfield Police Department has recently retired. While the BPD is actively working to find a replacement, we are pleased to inform you that Portage County Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski has arranged for Officer Don Cuttings to be present at Suffield School for a significant portion of the day. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Officer Cuttings and expressing our gratitude to Sheriff Zuchowski for his commitment to our school's safety. When you see Officer Cuttings on campus, please make him feel welcome.
Traffic Safety Measures: We would like to address recent concerns related to traffic safety in our school zone area. Yesterday, one of the officers directed vehicles not to park on the side of Waterloo Road, as this is a traffic violation. This adjustment was made to enhance safety and streamline the pick-up process. We understand that some may wonder why we have restricted access to the back parking area. It's essential to emphasize that your child's safety is our utmost priority. There are two primary reasons for these restrictions:
Playground and Blacktop Area: During school hours, our students often use the playground and blacktop area. Mixing cars and children in this space poses inherent safety risks.
Security Concerns: Allowing cars to enter the back area or park near the school during school hours could expose our community to potential risks.
While we acknowledge that these measures may cause minor inconveniences in terms of timing, please remember that the safety of everyone at our school is our top concern. We believe that ensuring a secure environment for our students and staff is paramount. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in prioritizing safety above all else.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to Suffield School's well-being.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Bookman
Principal
Congratulations
Congratulations to Mrs. Kelli Taylor, first-grade teacher, for being nominated to represent Field as Teacher of the Year for the All-Star Teaching Team at the Summit County Educational Service Center's Education Celebration. Field also was represented by Mrs. Bernadette Moore, for the Lifetime Achievement Award. Both of these ladies have served the Suffield and Field community for over 30 years. We congratulate and celebrate their accomplishments and contributions to the Field Family.

Birthday Treats
At this time, we will allow Birthday Treats to be brought to school. We are required to inform you of the Healthy Eating Guidelines (see below) and suggest that you use this when selecting a treat. Whatever you choose, please note that all treats brought to school for the purpose of sharing with others, need to be prepackaged so we are able to know and see the ingredients list. There are many students who have a variety of food allergies and having the ingredients listed helps the school nurse determine if a student with allergies can eat a particular treat.
Student Medications
If you have medications that you need to have at school for your child, DO NOT send them to school with your child on the bus. Please bring them to school. The office is open from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Please call the school if you have questions.
