Weekly Wildcat
September 9, 2022
Dear Wildcat Families,
I hope your Wildcat had a wonderful week at school! We look forward to celebrating International Dot Day on 11/15 with a STEAM challenge, art activity, read alouds, and a science experiment. Students are encouraged to wear dots on 11/15 - you can get as creative as you'd like!
Helpful Information:
- 9/19: Please note that 9/19 is a non-student day
- Dot Day: Dot Day is fast-approaching! We need your help to “Make our Mark." We are looking for parent volunteers to help on 9/14 and 9/15 for Dot Day activities. Your support is needed to help create our Dot Day mural, and also assist with Dot Day art, science and literacy activities in classrooms. Please email Mrs. Cabral at, kcabral@powayusd.com if you are available to help.

- Zones of Regulation Kick-off: Students will watch this video on Monday. Feel free to watch it together at home.
- Parking Lot Reminders: Thank you for helping the traffic flow nicely every morning and afternoon. Continue to use the crosswalks in front of our campus and pull all the way forward to the end of the red zone when using the drop-off lane. Make sure your children are ready to go with backpacks in hand to ensure our lane moves forward.
- Sundance Safety Committee: We are looking for 1-2 parents to join our Safety Committee 6x per year. Please email kcabral@powayusd.com if you would like to attend.
Previously Shared Information:
- Dismissal Locations: Please review the video linked here. We are asking for families to meet at the locations rather than wait in front of the main gate. Thank you for your support.
- Chess Club Enrollment: Our chess master, Erik Marquis, is offering a weekly chess club beginning September 20th at the kinder lunch tables from 2:15pm-3:00pm. Click here for more information. Counselor's Corner
This month I will be starting counseling small groups for different topics, including Friendship, Self-Control, and TK/K Social Skills. If you are interested in learning more about it or would like to see if your child would fit into the group, please contact me at empark@powayusd.com.
In just a few weeks, our Start With Hello week program will be taking place from Sept. 26-30th. It’s a school-wide initiative from the Sandy Hook Promise that promotes social inclusion and connectedness. You can read more about it in my September Counseling Newsletter.
