Iranian Hostage Crisis

Diana Laura Gil

Summary

This was a very dangerous international event that occurred between 1979-1981.
Around this time, a group of Iranian students took about 66 Americans from the U.S. and held them as hostages for a period longer than 14 months. On April 11, 1980 president Jimmy Carter approved a high-risk rescue operation named " Desert One." Three helicopters failed to function and the mission didn't work. Due to the mission being a fail, president Carter lost the election against Ronald Reagan, who then became president and accomplished the rescue of the Americans that were held hostage.
