Husky Howler
May 7, 2021
Dear Hill-Roberts Families:
Third and fourth-grade students will be taking MCAS over the next two weeks. Unlike normal years where they take multiple sessions of both ELA and math, this year they will only be taking one session of each:
- Gr. 3: Thursday, 5/13 (ELA), Thursday, 5/20 (math)
- Gr. 4: Tuesday, 5/11 (ELA), Tuesday, 5/18 (math)
While only third and fourth-graders take the MCAS, it still impacts the entire building. Being an open-concept school without full walls between classes means noise travels throughout the whole school. We ask that families remind their children to be extra quiet in school on those days to give the students taking the test the quiet they need to be able to concentrate and do their best work. Our teachers will discuss this with their classes as well, but it helps to reinforce the message if it comes from families too.
Happy Mother's Day to all of our Husky moms!
Sincerely,
Frank W. Rich, Principal
Thank you!!!

This Week in Health
In Health class we have been learning about Body Systems. Most recently, we have been learning about the Digestive System. Specifically, they are learning and asking many questions about the parts of the digestive system, how the digestive system works, what the digestive system does with food, and how to keep the digestive system healthy.
We also shared our Family Story with each other. Your Huskies created a book about their families describing who they live with and how their family stays healthy together. We described and learned about how families are made up of all kinds of people that take care of each other, love each other, count on each other and spend time together. Our families are our first teachers, and we begin our learning within our families. We discussed the different roles of people in our family and the different responsibilities and things we can do together as a family to strengthen our family relationships. We learned that all families are different and special.
Your Huskies have gotten to enjoy the new spring weather with physical activities to strengthen our bodies and develop teamwork, taking turns, and being kind during movement games. We continue to develop our Yoga skills and learn new ways to move our bodies. We continue with our mindful moments to reduce stress and calm ourselves during times we feel anxious and stressed.
As a reminder, please have your student dress comfortably with sneakers and for the weather on their Health days.
Enjoy the warming weather and stay healthy!
