Open House Was a Hit!

On August 18th we welcomed our 7th graders and their families to Tamanend's Open House. Students picked up their schedules, found their classes and tried their lockers. NJHS students helped and the Tiger greeted everyone! It was a great day with lots of smiles!

Schedule FAQs

We have created a list of frequently asked questions and answers regarding schedules below:

Q: Where will I find my locker?

A: For 7th graders, lockers are located closely to homeroom/1st period classes. For most 8th & 9th graders, lockers are located closely to 6th period/Resource classes.

Q: When is Resource this year?

A: Resource happens right after 6th period. In most cases, students will have the same class for 6th period and Resource. Some students, (e.g., students who have specials 6th period) will need to travel to their Resource period.

Q: When do I eat lunch?

A: The entire 9th grade eats lunch after 3rd period. The entire 8th grade eats lunch after 4th period. The entire 7th grade eats lunch together after 5th period.

Q: What is Forum and when does it happen?

A: Forum is called "Tiger's Eye" at Tamanend. It is a time when students and teachers meet in small groups to discuss important social/emotional topics relevant to middle school students. Starting sometime in November, we will have Tiger's Eye on Tuesdays after 3rd period once or twice a month.

Q: What time does school start for students?

A: Everyone needs to be in their Homeroom/1st period by 7:30 a.m. We have a warning bell that rings at 7:27 a.m. Please remember, students are not permitted to arrive to Tamanend until 7:10 a.m. for safety and supervision reasons.

NJHS Shares Time & Talent

To contribute to the positive messages that we have around the building, some of our NJHS students took time from their summers to paint banners that will keep us focused and inspired throughout the school year. Look for these newest banners in the hallway outside our cafeteria... they are beautiful! Thank you!

Throughout the year, Tamanend staff will be looking for examples of students showing Respect, Achievement, and Responsibility... or what we at Tamanend call "R.oA.R." Students recognized will be given Tiger Tracks which students can place in a Tiger Tracks drawing. Each Friday, Mr. Boyle will draw one student's Tiger Track and announce the winner on our Tamanend Today Show. The winner can pick from a number of cool prizes.

Parking Lot Safety

It is highly recommended that parents/guardians of students who walk or take the bus have their students walk or take the bus. On days, when students need extra help, please consider driving them to their assigned bus stop and wait together in the car until the bus arrives. A student will never be marked tardy if they arrive by bus.

If parents decide to drive students to school, please plan enough travel time to allow for safety and congestion on Stuckert Road and in our school parking lot. The speed limit in our lot is 15 mph.

The following is a mapping of how the student drop-off works in our parking lot. Drop off should only happen where the paw prints indicate on the map. For your safety and the safety of our students, please follow these directions and do not drop your student off on Stuckert Road, the Visitor's Parking area, or in the middle of the Main Parking Area. Thank you for your support and careful driving.

Arrival to School

For supervision and safety reasons, students may not be dropped off at school before 7:10 a.m. If you are driving your student to school and arrive before 7:10, please remain in your car with your student until 7:10 a.m.

Back to School Nights

We look forward to meeting all of our parents and guardians during Back to School Nights. 7th Grade BTSN is on September 14th at 7 p.m. 8th & 9th Grade BTSN is on September 22nd at 7 p.m. To help with parking and congestion on Stuckert Road, we encourage parents and guardians to consider carpooling if at all possible.

Tamanend Parent Council
