Kindergarten Class News
February 24-28, 2020
Conferences are next Thursday, 3/5! If you haven't already, please schedule a time to meet with me! :)
Language Arts
We have been working hard on sequencing events from stories we have read over the past few days. We have used all kinds of visual aids to help us with this such as picture cards, puppets, and graphic organizers. Reinforce this skill at home by discussing the sequence of the major events that occur in the stories you read together.
Also, please be encouraging your kiddo to be reading and writing as much as you can. I am amazed at how far their writing has come, even just in the few short weeks that I have been back at school!
Math
The students have been working hard on addition and subtraction over the past few weeks and are really starting to get the hang of it! Vocabulary we stress are words such as in all, how many are left, difference, part, and whole. There are all kinds of fun ways for you to practice adding and subtracting at home! For example, if your child is eating a package of fruit snacks, have them add to figure out how many they have in all and then have them write and solve a subtraction sentence to see how many they have left after they've eaten some.
Science
In science we have been discussing all things weather related. The students have enjoyed graphing the weather (lucky for us, we have had many sunny days lately) and also learning how the sun is a source of heat and light.
