CSE Mini Spartan Weekly

Your Once-a-Week Update from Cold Spring Elementary

From Mr. Skanson's Desk

Welcome Back to the 2016-2017 School Year. It is so fun to see all of the classrooms full and hallways buzzing with the sound of school. I often get asked, what do you do all summer? I have the pleasure of working in the office all summer, closing up the previous school year and getting ready to open the new one. However, it is my favorite time of year when staff and students come back to the building. We get to open again!

There are few professions that have the opportunity to have a new season and fresh start. In my 16 years in education, the only comparisons I have come up with are Farmers and Professional Athletes. Each year we get to do it over again and have the opportunity to do it better! Each year at CSE we analyze our performance from the previous year and take considerable time to plan as a building on making each new season better then the last. We improve our academics and also our student and parent experience.

Some new things this year to keep watch of include:
1. The CSE Snack Cart
2. All Pro Dad Events
3. Parent's Night Out!

Some things that are continuing:
2. HOST Parent Events
3. #CSESTRONG Walk-A-Thon!

This is just the short list, but we hope you stay tuned to classroom and school news!

Here's to another great #CSESTRONG year at CSE!

Dr. Eric Skanson

5th Grade Kindness Retreat

On Thursday, 5th graders from across the district came together to participate in a Kindness Retreat put on by Youth Frontiers. The goal of the day was for everyone to experience KINDNESS. They talked about ways to show kindness, the importance of being an UPSTANDER and how kindness works like a boomerang...when you throw it out there it will come back to you! Learn more about Youth Frontiers by going to their website here.
