A MESSAGE FROM MRS. MOLITOR
Hello Glendale Families!
The story for this month is: My Voice Is a Trumpet by Jimmie Allen
Standing up for what you believe isn't always easy. Maybe you think that your voice is too small, or that you're too young to show the world what you believe in.
But actually, all voices can make change happen. From a voice as tall as a tree to a voice as small as a bee.
My Voice Is a Trumpet, is a reminder that with courage and determination any voice can be powerful.
How will you use your voice?
I hope you enjoy it, and always remember to :
Be Safe
Be Responsible
Be Respectful
Jennifer Molitor
Glendale Elementary School Principal
C.A.R.E.S
Students at Glendale will be recognized for showing the CARES skills through out the school year. Adults can recognize students who are doing an excellent job demonstrating: Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy or Self control. Students who are recognized will be honored with a certificate, have their names announced at an All School Meeting, will be showcased in the Glendale monthly newsletter and will get to enjoy a cinnamon roll breakfast with Mrs. Molitor & the other recipients during morning meeting.
Congratulations to all of the students that received this award for November! We took the month of December off, but are ready to continue our C.A.R.E.S. celebrations now in this new year. The next breakfast honoring our January winners will be Friday, February 4th.
TECH SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES/STUDENTS
We ask that families continue to use the IT Help Desk Form (as they did last year) when needing additional tech support at home with their 1:1 devices.
SCHOOL MASK SUPPLY
As the universal face covering policy remains in effect due to high transmission of COVID in our local county and district, we’d like to share a friendly reminder with families to send their children to school with a face covering. Additionally, it’s helpful to send a few extra face coverings in your child’s backpack in a plastic bag in the event they need a new one during the school day. While we do have a small supply of face coverings in the event a student or adult forgets to wear one to school, we do not have the ability to provide face coverings for the masses.
Thank you for your partnership!

Hello Glendale Families! We hope that everyone was able to enjoy the Winter Break with Family and Friends. The few weeks leading up to break was our “Moonlight Bowling” unit here at Glendale. We had so much fun, playing “Add it Up” and “Bowling Bingo” all while the lights were out and the string lights were up around the gym walls. Moonlight bowling is definitely a favorite activity for both the students and the staff. Please help your child to remember to bring tennis shoes to school, they are required to wear proper gym shoes during Physical Education class. This is a safety issue for the student and their classmates. Thank you for your help with this!
MEDIA:
December began the start of Hour of Code which is put on each year by Code.org. This is a time when they open up a variety of awesome coding experiences on their site for free that kids can explore. Students in 2nd-5th grade spent 3 weeks exploring a variety of fun coding games that promote problem solving skills and logical thinking. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade started Kodable which is a great introduction to coding! Ask your students what they enjoyed playing this month.
MUSIC:
In music class, kindergarten has been playing Boomwhackers and learning about fast and slow. First grade has been practicing rhythms through games and playing Boomwhackers. Second and third grade have been finishing up our instrument families unit and singing some fun songs. Fourth and Fifth grade have been learning about different music genres. They have learned about classical, march music, Mariachi, Native American, Jazz/Blues/Protest music, Taiko, and musical theatre. We ended our time before winter break with a fun unit on The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky. 3rd-5th grade played a cup game set to the Russian dance called the Trepak. K-2 did a movement activity to the Trepak, and then they had fun with plate skating to the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. It was a short, but full month of music!
NOTE FROM THE SOCIAL WORKER
COLD WEATHER APPEARAL & GUIDELINES
Dressing your child with warm clothes, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots helps students have a fun time in cold, snowy weather. **Students will always go outdoors for recess unless the "feels like" temperature falls below -5 degrees or it is steadily raining. Please help to make sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess each day!
**IMPORTANT: BE SURE TO LABEL YOUR CHILD’S JACKET, MITTENS, HAT, SNOW PANTS, AND BOOTS TO HELP PREVENT THEM FROM GETTING LOST!!
