Paws for PRIDE . . .

Big image

Congratulations to our Paws for PRIDE winners from last Friday’s drawing: Aaron Collachi, Ian Smith, Kayla Sproehnle, Cailyn LaRosa, Josiah Thomas, Madalyn Zagnojny & Dane Manuel.

These students were chosen at random to be recognized and celebrated for demonstrating one of our five character traits - Pride, Respect, Individual Responsibility, Determination & Empathy. Thank you to all of the Titus families for your support of our Paws for PRIDE program.

Math Materials Sale . . .

Each year Titus offers families the opportunity to purchase additional math materials to be used at home. This sale provides parents/guardians with the opportunity to purchase some of the same learning tools used in class for students to keep at home and use when studying or doing homework.

If you are interested in purchasing any materials for your child’s home use, please visit our web site and return the order form to your child’s teacher along with a check (no cash) to the Titus Elementary Activity Fund no later than September 26th.

Book Dedications . . .

Why dedicate a book to the Titus Library?

  • To celebrate a birthday
  • To honor a family member or friend

  • To say “thank you” to a teacher

  • To remember someone special

For your donation of $20, we will order a book for you, place a book plate in the book with your message on it, notify the person in whose honor it was given, and allow your child to be the first to check it out. The dedication form can be found on the Titus web site, and if you have any questions please feel free to contact Mrs. Moore, Titus librarian.

Paws for PRIDE Assembly. . .

By: Aaron Fromel

During the all school assembly, I got to experience the thrill of having been a part of the first ever PRIDE assembly where we focused on empathy. The school entered silently and sat down as we listened to Mr. Cashman and Mrs. Horan talk about empathy, and what it means to show it at Titus. We got to hear "How do I stand in your shoes?" by Susan DeBell, Ph.D. read by Mrs. Wendell-Wesolowich. Then I saw a video created by Alyssa Guziewicz, Abby Maletz, and Paige Klein starring many kids showing empathy. Finally, the assembly wrapped up and we headed back to the classrooms.

By the end of the assembly, everybody knew what it meant to show empathy.

Home & School Association:

Party Planner Reminder . . .

Today, Friday, September 19th at approximately 3:45 pm, a school-wide messenger will be sent out with information on how to log in & sign up for a party. Once you log onto the site, you can find your child(ren)’s teacher and place your name in one of the volunteer spots and save it. Please just sign-up for only one party per classroom. Your teacher will then notify each of the volunteers a few weeks before the party with additional details.

Kindergarten Movie Night. . .

All Kindergarten students and their families are invited to join their new friends for a fun Family Movie Night tonight Friday, September 19, 2014 at 7:00 pm. The festivities will be held in the Titus Dining Room (cafeteria). A treat will be served but feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks. Don’t forget your blanket!

Looking forward to seeing all of our Kindergarten families.

Kid Stuff Books . . .

KidStuff Book sale will run until Monday, September 29th. The cost of the book is $25, and Titus receives 50% of the profit from the sales. Even though Race for Education is our only fundraiser, we sell the books as a service to the Titus community. Many Titus parents have asked Home & School to sell the books because they benefit from the great coupons and they want the school to get the profits. If you have any questions please e-mail Kristen Margraff.
