FINALS WEEK INFORMATION from Mr. Nemanich (emailed 5/25/23)
RWHS Student, Parents and Guardians,
As we approach our Finals Week for the second semester, I want to make you aware of the expectations and schedule for final exams during the last week of school. We will be running an open campus schedule for Final Exams beginning in the afternoon on Tuesday with the lunch period. If parents wish to opt their child out of the open campus schedule, please email Bethany Borgschatz in the office at baborgschatz@rwps.org so that we can mark their attendance properly. Attached is a copy of the finals week schedule and listed below are the expectations for students during the week.
Student Expectations:
-If you are exempt from a final, you don’t have to be in the building for that period (unless your parents have contacted the office that you must stay)
-If you are in school and are exempt from a final, report to the cafeteria
-If you are taking a final, you will stay in class the whole period
-Study hall: You don’t have to be in the building. If you are in the building, you must report to the study hall
Lunch Expectations:
-You may leave campus for lunch (unless your parent has contacted us and have opted you out of the open campus)
-If you do leave for lunch, you must leave and re-enter at door 1 (main entrance)
-If you are at school for lunch
Students are only allowed to eat in the cafeteria or outside on the patio
The alternate lunch areas won’t be available
Thursday Afternoon Expectations:
-Thursday afternoon 12:40-3:50
-You don’t have to be at school during this time if you have completed all assessments and have everything turned in (unless your parent has contacted us and have opted you out of the open campus)
-This time is used to finish your final/project, make-up assignments, or retake assessments
-You can go to the teachers classroom to complete your work (you will not follow the regular schedule)
-If you stay at school and are done with your work, you will meet in the cafeteria at 12:40 for further directions
Transportation:
-All buses will run at their normal times
IMC Restrictions:
Due to curriculum and technology returns only PSEO and grades 11 and 12 5RO are allowed to visit the IMC during finals week.
Student Chromebooks
RWHS Students,
During the summer of 2023, you are able to keep your Chromebooks over the summer. If you are not returning to Red Wing Public Schools in the fall or you would not like to keep your Chromebook over the summer, please return it to the IMC by 3 PM Thursday, June 1st.

SOAR Art Contest

These three winners will be paid $50 for their artworks, which will now become a part of the permanent art collection at RWHS!
Thank you to all who entered artwork. The display was GREAT this year! SOAR art contest artwork can be picked up in the art room any time before Summer. Any remaining works will NOT be kept until Fall.

- Summer reading program Monday, June 5 – Monday, August 7
- Read, earn, and win! Children, teens, and adults can register to read this summer with our library reading app Beanstack. Track your minutes on your phone, tablet, or online to collect virtual badges as you go and earn prizes all summer long! Pre-registration begins Monday, May 22. Paper logs available upon request.

FREE SUMMER MEALS for students!
Free meal service will be available on weekdays to all children this summer. Note that the program is returning to pre-pandemic protocols, so meals must be consumed onsite and eaten in a congregate setting.All meals will meet nutritional standards established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
