Principal Message December 12th, 2022

Dear Kennedy Families,

Thank you for another good week. We are in the midst of flu season that is affecting our students and staff so please make sure you are reporting your absence with our front office. We have a busy week this week with students finishing up i-ready, our Winter Concert and a few other evening events / meetings.

We have one week till a well deserved break for staff and students! We are almost there.

Below is the Cougar Connect for the week of (December 12th - December 16th)

Minimum Day Friday 12/16 (Link)

Dismissal is at 2:10 this Friday. Students will still go to all 7 periods.

I-Ready Make-ups

Kennedy students that have not completed their i-Ready assessments in either math or reading will be pulled from either PE or elective this week in order to finish these assessments.

COVID Tests (Link)

  • Kennedy will distribute test kits to all students in their 6th period on Thursday.

  • Everyone is asked to administer a test at home one or two days prior to their scheduled return to school on January 4th. Individuals who test positives please use the link in the district message or on this newsletter to report it.

Attendance

Attendance is very important, no matter what time of year, as every instructional minute counts. If students are sick, please keep them home. However, when possible, please schedule vacations and appointments when school is not in session. Parents and guardians should be notifying our office staff when students are absent. Truancy and attendance letters will be sent home to students who have excessive absences. Doctor’s notes are required for three or more consecutive absences.

Big picture

8th grade English Language Arts

8th grade students in Ms. Trangmar's class are completing their poetry projects entitled "Just Because Doesn't Mean" The purpose of the lesson was for students to disprove common misconceptions, stereotypes or assumptions in order to celebrate their individuality. Students did some great work! Families reading should also know that each of these students have to feel comfortable enough to express these personal stories in the classroom which is a testament to the strong welcoming environment created by the teacher.Below are some examples.

6th Grade Science

6th Grade students are learning about body systems. As part of that learning students had the opportunity to build a body!!!

Students of the Month November

Kennedy staff recognizes students for their work and accomplishments each month. For the month of November in lieu of an assembly students were able to watch a short video recognizing all the students of the month. Take a look!
