**High Holiday Services**
Davening for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur will be held in the Hamermesh backyard.
*Davening for Shabbat Shuva will also be held in the Hamermesh backyard.*
Childcare & Safety
To help our babysitters provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our kids, we are asking parents to sign up for one 1-hour shift to support the counselors during the high holidays. The role of the parent volunteer is not to run childcare but to support the counselors if they have questions or concerns.
Additionally, while with the kids, we ask that you keep an eye on who is entering our davening space, greeting guests and new-comers with a warm welcome, and if you see anything concerning or anyone behaving suspiciously, to please notify a Board member.

Kohelet Women's Reading
Any woman who is interested in reading one (or more) perakim, should please contact Esti Honig.
Simchat Torah Women's Torah Reading
For the past several years, Sha'arei Orah has held women's Torah reading/learning on Simchat Torah day. We listen to the men read the first five aliyot of the parsha, then separate and read it ourselves. All women are invited to attend and to receive an aliyah. Afterwards, we rejoin the rest of the group for the chatan Torah aliyah.
Any woman who is interested in reading Torah on Simchat Torah or serving as Gabbai'it, should please contact Molly Sinderbrand.
Simchat Torah Luncheon
We are excited to be planning a shul-wide Simchat Torah dairy lunch! If you are interesting sponsoring, please email Arielle Landau and Avi Pesis at programming@shaareiorah.org.
Membership Renewal
As we get ready for the new year, it is now time to renew your Sha'arei Orah membership for 5784. If you have already renewed, we sincerely appreciate it!
This past year, our generous members enabled us to grow and thrive - with beautiful davening, delicious kiddushes, inspiring visiting scholars, community-building social events, and joyous holiday celebrations.
To continue providing vibrant Torah, davening, programming and learning in 5784, we need your support.
Sha’arei Orah membership continues to be set at an affordable rate so everyone can invest in our community. To achieve our goals of financial stability, we encourage everyone to give generously. Please consider going above and beyond the $700 membership dues. Suggested donation amounts are Founder ($2,500), Pillar ($1,800), Builder ($1,000) or Guardian ($750). Of course, financial circumstances should not be an obstacle to membership for anyone. Please reach out to a member of the Board to make alternate membership arrangements.
We look forward to another year packed with opportunities for meaningful tefillot, insightful Torah learning, and wonderful community building! We hope you will continue to enhance our community with your Torah, your passion, and your action.

UPDATED COVID POLICY (as of 3/4/2022)
In accordance with current conditions and trends, updated guidance from the CDC, and newly relaxed protocols at Adath, the Board has decided to drop the mask requirement for attendance at Sha'arei Orah, beginning this Shabbat (see exceptions below). We know that some members of our community may feel more comfortable by continuing to wear a mask, and we encourage those individuals to continue doing so. We also continue to ask everyone to respect the sensitivities of others and to accommodate masked individuals who prefer to sit next to other masked individuals. We certainly hope that the pandemic conditions continue to improve, however, the Board may reinstate a mask requirement or other measures in the future as circumstances and guidance warrant.
As before, the following policies remain in place:
- All individuals who are eligible for the Covid vaccine must be fully vaccinated.
- If you are experiencing symptoms, or tested positive for Covid within the prior 5 days, you should not attend.
- If you tested positive for Covid between 5 and 10 days ago, you may attend but must wear a mask.
- If you had direct contact with someone else who tested positive for Covid during the prior 10 days, you may attend but must wear a mask.

Discretionary Fund
We are pleased to let you know that Sha'arei Orah, as a result of the efforts of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, now has a modest emergency fund to help relieve financial distress caused by COVID-19. The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is leading many Emergency Response efforts for our community. They generously created a grant to our shul's Discretionary Fund to support those of us in need. Additional information about the Fund can be found here.
These funds are intended to help those in need of food, medical assistance, rent/mortgage payments and/or medical expenses. If you are in need of assistance, or have any questions, please reach out to Daniel Rabin and we will work to help as much as we are able. Your conversations will remain in the strictest of confidence.
May we all have a year of health, happiness, and prosperity.
