Alder Weekly Update
Week of January 2, 2022
Message from the Principal
Hello Parents, Staff, and Students,
Given snow and icy conditions, we were all excited to see our students safely return on Wednesday. We know that so many were glad to be back! Many students shared that sentiment with us! This short week was filled with work and laughter as students started to get back into the school routines.
We are asking all to please take extra care as we enter a high risk time with Covid 19 transmission and cases. Staff and students must wear masks that completely cover their mouth and nose. This includes while in school and ON buses. We have had bus concerns brought to our attention where students are not wearing masks properly and safely on the buses. This is so important, even more so right now with cases on the rise. If a parent, please talk with your child about this and be certain that if they need a mask, we are made aware. We have masks and can offer them. If a staff member, please continue to offer reminders and send students to us if repeated requests are made and compliance is an issue.
Below, we are sharing some great pictures from our Spirit Week. Students and staff went all out to follow the dress days. We have captured some great pictures and smiles of our Alder School Family! Check them out.
We had some sport cancellations this week due to inclement weather; however our basketball and wrestling teams have been busy practicing and preparing for competition. In addition, students are preparing for our play, Moana. We have a spelling bee in early February that will bring some great attention to our students with this skill.
We are off to a great start in January 2022. It is true that the weather has stopped us a bit, but it is beautiful to see the world covered in snow. While cold outside, it is warm inside of Alder!
Have a great week ahead and let’s hope we can make it a full one together!
Sincerely,
Alder Administration of Ms. Giardina, Mrs. Day, and Ms. Flynn
