Get Connected!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOhZ6U5yaXA

How can you get connected at our school?

There are so many great ways for parents, grandparents, and families to be involved in our school and we WANT everyone to find their own niche. I know that everyone is busy and that it's a little scary committing to anything that might take more of your time. But at St. Patrick School, there are so many ways you can get involved that are flexible and work around your own schedule! For the next few weeks, I'd like to spend some time highlighting our may opportunities to get connected, in hopes that you will find at least one way you can join in!

PTO

Each year, we require our families to join the PTO and pay the $30 dues, because the St. Patrick PTO does so much to help our school! How many of you, though, are truly involved in PTO? How many of you have attended meetings? Attended functions hosted by PTO? Volunteered at PTO sponsored events?

The first way to get connected at our school is to join PTO and get involved by attending meetings. During the meetings, you will hear about the many great events and opportunities that PTO sponsors throughout the year like: treats at Back to School night, gathering pies for our Partners in Education night, sponsoring the yearbook club, sponsoring the all school Christmas skating party, the Best Guy/Best Gal dance, hosting the read-a-thon, sponsoring Field Day, sponsoring field trips, purchasing large ticket items for the school, and so much more!

You may not be able to help with every single event, but maybe you are interested in one or two of the opportunities and would be willing and able to lend a hand. We need YOU!

Maybe you've been too hesitant to attend a meeting in the past, or maybe you have a child in the upper grades and you feel like you've "been there, done that". I get it! I have 4 teenagers and I definitely feel like I've put in my time. But, what I've learned is that my youngest child deserves the same to commitment to his education as I've given to his older siblings. He deserves a mom who is connected and in the know in regards to school events, and that just by doing what I can do (sending in items for PTO sponsored teacher luncheons or snacks for the football team), I can be connected on my own time and I can let him know that that his education is important as important to me as it was when his oldest brother started school 15 years ago!

I'd like to challenge you to sign up for PTO during Back to School night, attend meetings, and find a way you can get connected that works for your schedule. PTO does so many things for our school that I'm really not sure how we would function without them. They provide for our classrooms, for our students, and for our teachers in ways the school alone could not provide.

Isn't that worth it???
