JUNE NEWSLETTER DIV.7
Thank you so much to all parents and students who helped make the Running Club a great success this year! Congratulations to the 8 students from our class who participated!
For our final month of school, we are wrapping up our novel study with summary activities and drama scenes. In Science, we conclude our unit on Simple Machines, while in Social Studies, we are completing our projects on Immigration. In Math, students continue to work on measurement concepts, as well as probability.
At this time of year, parents begin to wonder what they can do to help their child over the summer for success the following year. We have a few suggestions for you. Make sure that your child gets a rest so that they are fresh and eager to get back into school routines in September. It is a good time to experience things that they don’t have the time for during the year. Read as much as you can. The nearby public library is a free resource. Your child can ask the librarians there for advice on what to read. Mrs. Powell at the school is also a great resource to see before the break for advice. In addition, there are several programs that your child might like to join.
Teens read is an on-line book club through the Surrey Public library that your child might enjoy. You can register on the Teen RC website at: http://www.teenrc.ca/. Then your child can read books and post reviews. Each review your child posts counts as an entry into the prize draws. The more reviews your child submits, the more chances they have at winning a prize!
