Collegiate Academy at TCC Northeast

May 2, 2021

Phoenix Family,

This Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be STAAR EOC exam days. All learning will be asynchronous on those days. Only STAAR EOC testers will be in person at Collegiate Academy. Look for more details below.

Tomorrow at noon we will release our Class of 2021 Virtual Decision Day video. Please go to our facebook page and join us! We will also be emailing the link for those that can't join us on facebook.

We only have 13 school days left in the year and then 2 early release final exam days. Be sure to finish up strong! Your CA teachers are available everyday during 6th period to make sure you are on track to pass your high school classes. Take advantage of this opportunity.

Students that are needing to pass TSIA Reading/Writing and Math will have an opportunity to attend our TSIA Bootcamp, May 24 - 26. Students will attend prep classes and test on those days. Transportation will be provided. The Bootcamp will begin at 8:35am and end at 1:30pm each day. Lunch will be provided!

Always grateful,

Bobbe Knutz

Miles Masker one of our own Juniors has won the 6th place overall in the TCC's Mathematics Bolen Competition. Aside from his award, he won a $300 dollar price as an incentive and reward for his academic effort!

Registration TOMORROW, MAY 3rd

Tomorrow morning at 5:00 AM TCC will open registration for our Collegiate Academy students as well as their other students. The reason that it is important for our students to wake up at 5:00 is that they will be competing for seats in these classes with the other students. Some of our students want specific professors, others want classes at specific times, and if that’s your goal you need to wake up early and click the register button.

IF anything goes wrong, do not worry. Regardless of what happens after you click the register button, go back to sleep and we’ll see you in Pathways on Monday morning. If you get an error, we’ll take care of it on Monday morning in pathways, but there’s no reason to stress for a couple of hours because the people with the ability to solve the problem won’t be available until school starts. It’s all going to be alright! It’s always alright!

Senior Edgenuity

As we get closer and closer to graduation our time to complete edgenuity is running out. If you’re a senior with edgenuity we highly recommend that you return to the school and work in an environment that is conducive to learning. It is not a punishment. We want you to graduate from high school and regardless of your college acceptances if you don’t have a diploma those opportunities will disappear. If you need further assistance then please come up to CA and let us help you. If you’re reading this on Sunday, May 2nd we have 17 DAYS UNTIL GRADUATION. If your edgenuity is not done, you will not walk at graduation so get it in gear!

Senior Volunteer Hours

If you’re a senior we mentioned earlier this school year that the required number of hours to earn the volunteer cord was going to be dropped from 100 to 80 hours. If that is still something that you’re interested in we need ALL hours turned in to me by May 10th in order for them to be counted towards the cord. If you have any questions please let me know.

Good morning Collegiate Academy Parents and Students:

As a reminder, in May, students will be taking the US History, Algebra I and Biology STAAR EOC

  • *US History – May 4th
  • *Algebra I – May 5th
  • *Biology - May 6th

*Indicates asynchronous days for all non-testing students

TEA has NOT waived the STAAR EOC testing requirement for graduation this year. Students must take and pass the STAAR EOC for graduation.

Please review the STAAR EOC communication from our district that was sent out previously and read below for information regarding May testing days.

Buses will arrive at Collegiate Academy by 8:25. Testing will begin promptly upon arrival.

These tests are four hours, so we will have lunch after testing has concluded. Students may bring their own lunch or pick up one from the cafeteria if they request one by Friday, April 16th.

How to request lunch and transportation:
    • Biology and Algebra I testers will communicate their lunch and transportation needs to Mrs. Fuller and Mrs. Brown

    • US History testers (Sophomores) will complete the lunch and transportation Google form in their Pathways class.

To maintain an optimal testing environment for all testers, students will remain in the classroom until testing has completed. Standard testing will be four hours. Students may read a book quietly or rest after testing. Students may NOT read textbooks after testing.

Buses will depart from Collegiate Academy at 1:30. Students are not permitted to stay on campus at the conclusion of the exam.

If you have any specific questions regarding the upcoming STAAR EOC, please feel free to email me at

COVID-19 causes symptoms that are similar to many common illnesses, and people are infectious before they even have symptoms. So, in the case that someone in your household is displaying symptoms of illness, we ask that all of your children, as potential Close Contacts, stay home until a diagnosis is confirmed. Remember, a Close Contact is a person who is within six feet of you for 15 minutes or more, as would be common within your home.

If someone in your house is ill, then everyone has likely been exposed to the virus. Again, your campus nurse is ready to discuss with you about the specifics of your family situation and make the proper recommendations.
