This is a Professional Development day for teachers.
The first of three long range planning meetings was recently held to evaluate and update Ozark School District's Long Range Plan. Here is a copy of the presentation.
Our next planning meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ozark High School Cafeteria. If you would like to attend our November meeting and have not signed up, please sign up here. Childcare will be provided. This meeting will consist of focus groups so we can gather your input on the following categories:
- Safety and Security
- Grade Configuration/School Sites and School Size
- Special Education/Early Childhood
- Transportation
- Long Range Planning for Current Facilities (Roofs, HVAC, Activities)
- Financial Planning
We cannot tell you how much we appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to be a part of this process.
The Girls Golf team placed 8th as a team in the state golf tournament in Kansas City. The last time the Ozark Girls Golf team advanced to state as a team was in 2004. The team includes Elizabeth Freeman, Maddie Jenkins, Georgia Fraser, Olivia Hanks and Maddie Greenlee.

East receives YEPO Grant
Youth Empowerment Project of the Ozarks — YEPO — awarded East Elementary Counselor Jeanie English with a YEPO grant, which was requested by student Ellie Chapman. The grant money will be used to purchase three body socks for the motor lab.

Stop, Drop & Roll
The Ozark Fire Protection District visited North Elementary Oct. 19 to teach second graders about fire safety. Students got to see what a fireman in equipment looks like and sit in the truck.

North Elementary PTA held an office supply drive for the school, collecting a lot of great supplies.
YEPO Talent Show

The OHS Library issued the Bookface Photo Challenge to students Oct. 23, having students and teachers replace their face with a book’s cover and snap a photo to post on Instagram.
Students who were "caught reading" also received treat bags.
All About Animals
Last week Finley River School students in Mr. McClain's ethology class visited Route 66 Humane Society in Ozark to socialize the dogs up for adoption. Students learned about dog body language and why dogs use the type of body language they do to communicate specific messages.
This week, students have been learning about mating systems in animals, including fish. On Oct. 23, students constructed homemade fish nurseries and spawning mops for the various fish in the classroom tank.
What's an isotope?
Learning is happening everywhere! For OJH freshman in physical science, it was happening on the learning stairs Oct. 23. Students learned about isotopes through POGIL -- Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning — a student-centered, group-learning instructional strategy.

Battalion Olympics
On Oct. 18 the Ozark High School Army Junior ROTC Tiger Battalion held its annual Battalion Olympics at Finley River Park.
Cadets organized into person teams for friendly competition. Overall the Ozark JROTC Tiger Battalion had a great day of comradery and bonding that helped to improve teamwork, strengthen relationships, and build fond memories within the battalion.
