ACP at a Glance
Academic & Career Planning Newsletter Volume 8
Volume 8: The Team
In the past, the idea of academic and career planning was thought to rest squarely on the shoulders of the school counselors in a high school. We have made an important shift in the state of Wisconsin, and in particular, in the Sheboygan Area School District. ACP works best when approached as a team. School counselors, administrators, teachers, support staff, parents, and most importantly the student, must all play a role in the process that begins in earnest in 6th grade and concludes when our students "walk the bowl" at high school graduation.
In volume 8 of the SASD ACP newsletter, we highlight the role of the teacher, which is often overlooked. Volume 8 also contains the world premiere of the SASD ACP video. It was produced in partnership with Silverwater Productions and is designed to provide all stakeholders in the community with more information about ACP in the SASD -- how we do it, but more importantly, why we do it. Enjoy and spread the word!

Teacher Externships
The objective of the day was to provide teachers with an opportunity to see local industry in action and learn how it applies to the subjects they teach. The end result will help increase relevancy and value of the high school experience by preparing students for careers. This was phase one of a yearlong, school-wide curriculum review. Thank you to our hosts, Rockline, Sargento, Johnsonville, Kohler, Prevea, and Sheboygan County Government for a great morning of professional development!
