An e-newsletter from Turtle Lake Elementary School

Dear Turtle Lake families,

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! I truly hope you all found time to enjoy a restorative summer and are looking forward to a new school year. I am eager to partner with you and the tremendous Turtle Lake staff to serve your children during the upcoming school year.

Please refer to the back to school information below. For those wondering, masks are optional at this time.

Teacher Assignments

Homeroom teacher assignments will ONLY be available in ParentVUE after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19. Class lists will no longer be posted in the vestibule windows due to concerns regarding privacy and safety. Turtle Lake was the only school left using that practice. I know it is hard, for some, to see it go! We surely understand that not all folks want their child's name shared in social media posts, texts, emails, or other methods.

Last year, we received a tremendous amount of positive feedback regarding the combined Meet Your Teacher Night and Early Goal Setting Meetings! People enjoyed easier parking, less congestion, and a specified time with their new teacher! This year, we will continue the new practice of having one SCHEDULED 20-minute session with your teacher. This Early Connections appointment is an opportunity for children to meet their teachers, find their classrooms, and drop-off school supplies (this is encouraged). Parents will also have the opportunity to share information with the teacher to help build the foundation for a successful year.

  • We look forward to seeing families and students in attendance at their assigned time.

  • You may choose a 20 minute slot:

    • In Person (please bring school supplies to this meeting)

    • Virtual Meeting available by family request (school supplies can be sent with your child on their first day of school)

  • You may choose either date:

    • Aug. 31 from 3:30-6:30 or

    • Sept. 1 from 8:30-3:30

Meeting Sign-Up will go live on Monday, August 22, at noon. You will be able to select a time that works in your schedule to meet with your child’s teacher. Parent participation at these meetings is strongly encouraged.
