2022 Perception Surveys
Each year, to help improve our schools, Gwinnett County Public Schools collects feedback from our families, students, and staff members about their school experience. This year, the school district is giving Educational Effectiveness Surveys (EES) to get feedback on nine characteristics of high-performing schools. Those characteristics are:
- a clear and shared focus;
- high standards and expectations for all students;
- effective school leadership;
- high levels of collaboration and communication;
- what we teach, how we teach, and how learning is measured and aligned with AKS standards;
- frequent monitoring of learning and teaching;
- focused professional development;
- supportive learning environment; and
- high levels of family and community involvement.
In addition, the surveys ask about two other areas associated with high-performing schools—district support for improvement and respect for diverse cultures and backgrounds. Links to the student, parent, and employee surveys will be available in the appropriate GCPS portal (Student Portal, Parent Portal, Employee Portal) during the time each survey is live. Parents and families will also receive School Messenger communication with links to the Family Survey.
Key dates in the process are:
March 21-April 20: High School Student Survey is open
March 23-April 20: Student Survey is open for students in grades 4-8

Counselor's Corner
Hi Titan families!
On Friday, we held a Pep Rally for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students who will be taking the Georgia Milestones Assessments. The cheerleaders from Discovery High School came over to help get our students pumped up and ready for testing! Some of the students and teachers engaged in a friendly competition and we closed it out with a review of test-taking tips.
Congratulations to the following classes who had perfect attendance during March! We encourage all students to be at school on time each day.
K: White
1st: Rajan
3rd: Haynes
4th: Cotten
5th: Swisher
During the Georgia Milestones Assessment (GMAS), we will be keeping track of those students who are on time and at school each day of testing. The students who have perfect attendance during testing will receive a special reward. Please do your best to get your students to school on time everyday so they can do their best on the test.
Family Engagement Tips
Show your child what listening looks like
Research shows that in order to retain what they hear, students need to focus their attention, then review important information. Be a listening role model for your child. For example, encourage your student to talk about the school day. Then show you are paying attention by making eye contact and listening patiently. Restate the important points your child makes to confirm your understanding.
3-5
Encourage an early start on weekend assignments
When there is schoolwork to do over the weekend, many kids put it off. Then they meltdown Sunday night when the work must be done. Encourage your child to tackle assigned work on Friday. Classroom learning will be fresh in your student's minds, so the assignment will likely take less time. And if a project needs more time, your child will avoid a panicked rush.
Book Mobile 5K
We are able to provide free books for our students (at very little cost to us) through the Book Mobile program, and this is the main fundraiser for the year. The school with the most participants will win a free visit from Book Mobile! Once you register, look for your name on our “I’m Booking it for the Bus” display in the front lobby.
