Principal's Notes and Highlights
Happy Friday!
"We don't do what we do in schools to get good results/data. We do what we do to improve the lives of humans. Good academic results are a byproduct. If we only aim for the data, we may not succeed in improving lives. But if we aim for improving lives, the data will always follow." Amy Fast, Ed.D.
Amy is one of several educators I follow on Twitter. This quote is a great reminder of where our focus should remain in schools. ISTEP results were published in the newspaper on Monday (photo below). Your children did very well and we are proud of those results. Our teachers, myself, and our school are evaluated on their results. As you can guess, doing well is important to us. At Town Hall Meeting this morning I thanked our students for giving us their very best!
Like Amy, we believe that these scores are a result of what we do. It is not our driving focus. Ensuring each and every child has an incredible experience at school, thus improving their lives, is and will remain our focus. That is why our students are successful. This is why our staff loves working here. This is why our parents are so committed. This is why our school is held in such high regard.
In the coming weeks, I'll be sharing some exciting news about how the CSA Lincoln Community will be continuing its efforts to help improve the lives of all members of our school family. For now, please know how fortunate I feel to work for this incredible group of students, teachers and parents. This is a special place and we have even greater things ahead of us.
- We are excited to announce that the first ever CSA K-12 Science Fair will take place on Tuesday, December 4th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Central Middle School! Do you have fond memories of participating in a Science Fair when you were in elementary school? Does your child love to experiment, tinker or question how things work? All CSA Lincoln students are welcome to enter an exhibit in this year's science fair. This is not required and classes will not be focusing on this at school. We hope this will be a family fun experience! You can find all the details here. Information is also coming home with report cards. Any family that needs help purchasing a display board can contact the office.
- The 6th Grade Chicago Trip Parent Meeting will be Monday, October 22nd at 5:45 p.m. The meeting will be in the gym and last about 20-30 minutes. Please plan to attend if your child is going on the trip. It is also a great idea for them to come and hear the same message.
CSA New Tech Freshmen are hosting a Fall Feast, featuring a hog roast and greens from our school garden. October 25th, 6-7:30 pm at New Tech. Musical entertainment provided by "The Hammer and the Hatchet," an Americana duo from Brown County. Cost is $0 (donations accepted). This feast is the culminating event of our garden project, an annual favorite, and is by the students/ for the families. All CSA families are invited.
- Report cards will go home this Friday, October 19th. Please return the envelope to school.
