BIOGRAPHY/ WHY WE CHOSE HIM

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. we chose Nelson Mandela , he was a man of peace he showed people what forgiveness looked like, he had hope not hate and he had patience and determination.

WHAT HE DID

He helped end the apartheid through his bravery and even though he went through some tough times he did not give up.

HOW HE IS A BRIDGE BUILDER 1

Nelson Mandela was a black South African who fought for human right and a great future for everyone in south Africa, he spent 27 years in prison for trying to overthrow the apartheid laws, but that didn't stop Nelson Mandela from doing what he thought was right.

HOW HE IS A BRIDGE BUILDER 2

President F.W. de Klerk let Nelson out of prison and worked with Nelson Mandela to repeal the apartheid laws. Nelson wrote letters to F.W. de Klerk, they met together sometimes to negotiate and Nelson Mandela finally convinced President F.W. de Klerk. Nelson thought black Africans not to be aggressive but to have peaceful protests.

HOW HE IS A BRIDGE BUILDER 3

He granted voting right to everyone in South Africa. At first the blacks in South Africa could not vote but after Nelson Mandela bravery and knowledge, voting was for everyone.
