Principals Corner
Greetings Trailblazers!
Our Discovery students have quickly adjusted to the routine of their classrooms and school day. Ms. Ragan, Mr. Grier, and I have enjoyed seeing all of our students demonstrating the three R’s (Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn) in the hallways, stairs, playground, and cafeteria.
We are so incredibly proud of our students as they have practiced safe behaviors in these areas with their classes. If your student rides the bus, please remind your Trailblazer to show those three R’s on the bus by remaining seated until the bus comes to a full stop, keeping his/her legs inside the aisle, and talking only to his/her seat partner. In the Kiss and Go area, your Trailblazer can show the three R’s by staying on the sidewalk, using the car door directly next to the sidewalk, and walking directly to their classroom once entering the school.
Your Principal,
Chris Painter

PTO Meeting
Friday is Spirit Day
We Still need your help!
As the PTO Board prepares for our first meeting of the school year this Tuesday, we are reflecting on our goals and commitments for the upcoming year and tallying where we are in terms of PTO members, event and program volunteer interest, and money donated through our Direct Donation campaign. Unfortunately, we have not yet reached any of our goals for this year. However, there is still time!
Have you contributed toward the Direct Donation campaign yet?
Did you know that 100% of the money collected from our Direct Donation campaign goes DIRECTLY back to Discovery? We provide much needed monetary assistance to Discovery that allows your child’s teachers to purchase Reflex Math, Spelling City, Scholastic Magazine subscriptions, classroom supplies, and so much more!
Please consider contributing today. Every penny counts and can make a positive impact on your child’s education.
Did we mention there are really cool raffle prizes (echo dot, iFly tickets, hover board, & slime the principal) that we hope will inspire you to donate!
We hope to see you at our first PTO meeting on 9/18 at 7pm where you can learn more about our budget, our goals, our programs, and how we collaborate with the Discovery community.
Thank you!
Your PTO Board
Direct Donation Campaign is Underway!
Attention Trailblazers! Our Direct Donation campaign is underway!
With a Direct Donation campaign, the PTO keeps 100% of the profits and avoids traditional door-to-door selling. All donations are tax-deductible!
This year, the money earned will go towards improving our Kindergarten playground, as well as for the purchase of additional recess equipment for the entire school.
Donations can be made through the school store and via paper form attached below. We thank you in advance for your support!
Support Discovery's 2018-2019 PTO!
Why join the PTO? It provides funds that will directly impact your child’s education and gives you a vote at PTO meetings. Membership is $15 per family and $5 per staff member. Our goal for the 2018-2019 school year is to have 500 families join!
PTO Membership fees will be applied to our Classroom Assistance Budget.
You may join through our school store or send in the attached form below.
Calling all Father Figures of Great Students!
We need you to volunteer for our WATCH DOGS program!
WATCH DOGS are Fathers, Grandfathers, Step-fathers, Uncles and other father figures that volunteer at Discovery for a day. During the day, WATCH DOGS may read and work on math with students, play at recess, attend specials, eat lunch with students, patrol the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well.
