UPCOMING EVENTS THIS WEEK
REPORT CARDS
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT HALF-DAY ON THURSDAY-12:20 DISMISSAL
HALF-DAY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY/ ALICE TRAINING
Thursday, January 31st is a half-day for Davis Hill students.
Please note the following:
-Dismissal will be at 12:20 for all students (AM kindergarten will dismiss at 12:20).
-There is NO PM kindergarten on Thursday.
-There is NO Holden Recreational Department After School Program on Thursday.
-For students who typically attend the After School Program, I do request that parents send a note in with their child confirming their dismissal plans for the half-day. This is incredibly helpful for the teachers/ office staff and reduces our need to make phone calls verifying dismissal plans. Students who typically attend the After School Program will be sent home according to their assignment in PowerSchool if no notification is received.
-Notes should also be sent in for any students who will have a change to their typical dismissal routine for Thursday.
-AM Kindergarten students will be dismissed with all students and go home at 12:20. If you have a question regarding dismissal for your AM Kindergarten child, please contact your child’s teacher and/ or write a note regarding the dismissal routine for Thursday.
Professional Development Focus:
All Davis Hill Teachers will be taking part in building based Professional Development focused on emergency planning/ ALICE training. As the Superintendent noted in his most recent "Wachusett News":
School safety and security are a constant theme in our vernacular as we focus on how to best provide safe learning and working environments. This year, the WRSD has begun the implementation of two new tools, ALICE and CrisisGo, to help our staff respond to emergency situations.
ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) is a national program that has been instituted in over 4,000 school districts. The ALICE protocols provide guidance for staff in the event of a crisis situation. This initiative is a top priority for this school year and will continue into the next school year. Administrators across the District have attended train-the-trainer professional development offered through ALICE and are working with their school personnel as well as local police and fire.
CrisisGo is an alert system that facilitates real-time, two-way communication during an emergency and is being installed on District-owned computers and laptops used by staff. Successful tests of the CrisisGo system have taken place in all of our schools. Local emergency officials also have access to CrisisGo in order to monitor and respond to any type of emergency requiring their assistance.
*NOTE
The WRSD and Davis Hill will once again be serving lunch on half-days this school year. Please see the lunch menu link on our website if you are interested in purchasing lunch on these days. All students (whether buying lunch or not) will be provided a time to eat in the cafeteria on half-days.

KINDERGARTEN SQUARE 1 ART VOLUNTEERS
Dear Parent(s)/ Guardian(s) of Kindergarten Students:
During the first week of February students will be creating art in their art classes which will be sent in as part of the PTA Square 1 Art fundraiser, where families will then have the option to purchase products that feature their child's artwork. During the Kindergarten classes, Ms. Wornham could use 1-2 volunteers per class that week to help. Please see the link below if you would be interested. Volunteers do need to have an active CORI.
Kindly,
Jay C. Norton, Principal
