Wrapping Up a Positive Week

February 17, 2023

BCS Community:

The patience and support of our whole community have been phenomenal as we work through the cybersecurity incident, restoration and investigation. A special thanks goes to the parents/caregivers who were able to attend high school parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday and to our staff who were prepared to see them.

Temporarily, the school day looks different, and kudos to our students, staff and administration who are responding extremely well to these adjustments. Academics, arts, and athletic events and activities continue to keep our students involved and active. We are seeing increased engagement with their classmates and our school staff. I could not be prouder of everyone.

Like you, I wish this return to normal could occur more quickly, but I know you will agree that a steady, systematic return to operations, while fully respecting the integrity of the ongoing investigation, is the best path forward.

I want you to know that our schools have implemented appropriate tools to monitor and track student academic progress until Schoology is operational again for students and staff. As a parent/caregiver, you can access your account but updates from staff may not be present. Keep in mind, you are always encouraged to speak with your school or teacher for updates on your student's educational programs and services.

Finally, I want you to know that the lengthy work of the cybersecurity professionals to restore operations and further the investigation continues. I know you want more information, and when we are provided information to share, we will pass it along.

Again, I offer my sincere thanks to our entire school community for your continued patience and support. I say it all the time, our staff and students are simply the best.

REMINDER: Monday, February 20th is a Professional Learning Day for staff. No school for students.
