Principal's Message

Dear Edison Families,

I need your help. We are gathering information using this online form ( to help us qualify for more money here at Edison. You may have already received a paper pencil version of this form this week to complete. Either way -- it’s pretty quick, is very important to our school, your child, and I am counting on you to help out.

This form looks a lot like the meal application form, but it is different and does not determine your child’s eligibility for meals. This year all students at Edison will receive meals at no charge.

Please be sure to complete this online form by no later than August 27 --

If you need any assistance with filling out the form, please call our school office at 909-984-5618 and we will be happy to help you complete the form over the phone.

By completing the form, you will not only help our school continue to provide amazing opportunities for kids and greatly contribute to enabling us to better serve all of our families. Better still, you will give your child an opportunity to throw a water balloon at the Principal. Yup, you read that right, we challenged our Bobcats to get their form in and they’ll get a water balloon to throw at me. If their class gets 100% submitted we’ll let their teacher throw one too -- should be awesome :)

Lastly, I want to thank our dedicated teachers and staff for all their hard work in preparing for this past week and for their commitment to strengthening student connections, creating engaging lessons, and providing that unique support that is paramount for our students and families at this time.

I want to also extend my appreciation to our students and families for their continued support as we navigate the ever changing nature of our new school year. I am immensely grateful and humbled by the kind words, encouragement and support we’ve received. A true testament to our #edisonstrong community.

Students Presenting Symptoms at Home

In an effort to maintain a healthy school environment and to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we ask that all parents screen their child for COVID-19 symptoms each morning before they send them to school, and keep them at home if they are sick using our Daily Checklist for Families.

This shared responsibility is critical to our ability to keep everyone safe, healthy and attending in person each day.

Please report your child’s illness with details of all symptoms to our health office at 909-984-5618. Our Health Office will follow up on all students that are at home with COVID-19 symptoms.

Minimum Day: Wednesday, Aug 18, 2021

  • TK | Kindergarten -- 7:30 -- 11:15 am (All K/TK classes attend the AM session)
  • 1-8 Grade -- 8:00 am - 12:30 pm

Virtual Back to School Night - August 18, 2021, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Our Back to School Night will be conducted online this year with our Back to School Night kick off all families can watch via our YouTube channel Watch Party. From there, families will have an opportunity to visit their children’s teachers in much the same way as we have in the past with two Zoom rotations for parents to visit multiple teachers.

Parents can expect to receive Zoom invitations from their child’s teacher next week. Starting Wednesday, parents may also visit the Parent section of our school website for a listing of all our classroom session links, just click on Parents and select Back to School Night.

Get involved! School Site Council

We are excited to offer parent involvement opportunities once again! The first is to be a member of our School Site Council (SSC). The SSC makes decisions on the focus of our funding and the allocation of resources to support our school community. This year we will have two open positions and we would love for you to think about, and nominate parents who you believe will be able to participate in the decision-making process here at Edison Academy.

You only need to enter the name of the person you choose (you may nominate yourself) and indicate their affiliation with the school, i.e. parent or community member. That’s it!

At this time, meetings would be held virtually, and we would return to on-site meetings when we are cleared to begin the hybrid school model. Meetings will be held after school via zoom. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, August 20. Get involved! Online Nomination Form:

Middle School 6-8 -- What is School Loop?

School Loop is a communication app that allows parents and students to keep in touch with their Middle School teachers. School Loop keeps families and educators in touch regarding grades, homework, and Middle School related news.

It is more important than ever that our 6-8 grade families get connected to their child’s School Loop account. For our incoming 6th grade students and/or new 6-8 grade families to Edison, it is critical you sign-up for School Loop today, and be sure to download your School Loop app on your mobile device ( Apple | Android ) -- get started and sign up today --

After School Pick Up -- Crosswalk

We are asking that all our families set aside 2.5 minutes each day. Why 2.5 minutes? Because that’s approximately how long it will take, our Principal actually timed it himself, for a pedestrian to walk over to our crosswalk instead of crossing at the intersection of Sultana Avenue and Deodar Street. That’s a pretty good investment of time when you consider that, according to the National High Traffic Safety Administration, crossing someplace other than an intersection accounts for more than 70% of child pedestrian deaths in the United States.

Car Pick Up: Loading Zones

Pull forward along the 6th St or Sultana curb, put the car in park and wait for your children to fully load. Remain in your vehicle until your child arrives. Families can also use our park and walk options if they prefer.

1:1 Mobile Devices | My Device, My Responsibility

This year all students in 3-8 grade will be issued a device that will go with them from grade level to grade level for the duration of their time here with us -- My device, My responsibility! Your child’s teacher will share more details on when students may utilize their school devices at home and be responsible for bringing them back each day charged and ready.

TK-2 grade students will utilize their devices exclusively on campus this year.

The goal of our 1:1 mobile device program is to prepare students for 21st century college and career readiness skills. As 21st century citizens, we want our students to utilize technology in innovative and creative ways. As staff, we will continue to re-examine the ways we deliver instruction and facilitate learning for our students.

Our absence reporting line is operational twenty-four hours a day, so you can call 909-984-5618 option 3 anytime. You may also email our Attendance Clerk, Mrs. Tilley directly at Absences must be reported before 9:15 A.M.

Please be sure to include the following information:

  • Student's First and Last name

  • Teacher's name

  • Length of absence

  • Reason for absence
