Message From The Principal

Hello Rancho families,

We are definitely in the home stretch of the semester. We have 10 school days remaining. Students and parents should be monitoring student grades in each of their classes. See below for earning partial credits.

Teachers are typically willing to assist students in making up missing assignments as retaking assessments, but students need to be an active participant. Let's finish strong.

Think different. Be different.

Tim Dignan

Partial Credits

If at the end of the semester a student has earned 70% or higher in a class they will earn a full 5 credits. If the percentage is less than 70%, teachers will look at each percentage earned in each of individual credits and assigned the student one credit for each credit with a 70% or higher.

Examples:

Student A

1st credit = 60%, 2nd credit = 65%, 3rd credit = 85%, 4th credit = 75%, 5th credit = 80%

Semester percentage = 73%

Student earns 5 credits with a Grade of C

Student B

1st credit = 50%, 2nd credit = 75%, 3rd credit = 50%, 4th credit = 70%, 5th credit = 80%

Semester percentage = 63%

Student earns 3 credits with a grade of C

Student C

1st credit = 50%, 2nd credit = 50%, 3rd credit = 50%, 4th credit = 85%, 5th credit = 85%

Semester percentage = 66%

Student earns 2 credits with a grade of B

Newcomer Academy

RVHS is proud to be the home of the district's Newcomer Academy. The academy is for students who are 16 years or older, new to the United States, have limited English proficiency and have few, if any high school credits. The academy is in its inaugural year and under the wonderful guidance of Mrs. Stephanie Webb. The majority of the students are from Central America. They add to the terrific cultural diversity of our campus.

This week, the academy was visited by Assistant Superintendents Frank Arce and Nicole Lash.

Student Of The Month

Ruben Vasquez

Ruben was chosen as Rancho Vista's Student of the month for his overall quality as a student at RVHS. Ruben brings such a happy and pleasant vibe to the campus, along with this, Ruben is always on task and engaged in whatever activity is happening. It is really nice to have such a great student at RVHS! Here are a few things that his teachers shared about Ruben:

"Ruben is a student in my business math class. Every high school student shares a common trait; they are all still in high school. While this may be true of Ruben, he has demonstrated a responsibility and maturity beyond his years academically. Ruben routinely submits class assignments before they are due, participates in all class discussions, earns A’s on most all assessments, and completes this all with a positive attitude and a willingness to always help out other students."

"Ruben is here everyday, ready to work and move forward! Ruben is kind and respectful and is just a good person. He is moving forward in Credit recovery and is completing modules. He also won our class raffle for a Walmart gift card! In order to be eligible he needed to have 100% attendance and significant progress in edgenuity! GO RUEBEN!!"

"Always positive, engaged, and asks great questions in class. He is a pleasure to have in class and I can always count on him to give his best effort."

After graduation Ruben plans to go to a Palomar Community College to complete his general education credits. After community college he wants to focus on getting a bachelors then masters degree in a four-year university.

Ruben plans on becoming a social worker, to help teens who have dealt with depression and other problems that put them at risk in their life.
