Irish You a Happy St. Patrick's Day
In P.E. with Ms. Dawn, we worked on tossing the "gold" into the pot, during which we used yellow bean bags to practice our underhand throws. Then we played "Capture the Leprechaun" by wrapping the leprechauns up in a rainbow parachute. Linking to our animal theme, we followed music activities of Animal Action and pretended to be cats, elephants, lions, snakes, frogs, birds, etc. In speech rotations with Ms. Michelle we continued with the animal theme by singing Old McDonald and talking about animals that live on a farm. We also worked on pre-academic concepts of big and small, and used our language to talk about animals that are big and small (e.g., big elephant, little ladybug).
With our friends from Room 15 and 4, we practiced our Spring Fling songs, played Duck Duck Goose on the upper playground, and did some stretches. We worked on reaching our arms out wide like a star, touching our toes, and hugging ourself into a ball. During outside structured time, Ms. Melissa led a 3-part obstacle course. At shamrock #1, we got on bikes and rode around the track. At shamrock #2, we dug through buckets of sand to collect toy bugs. At shamrock #3, we again practiced our underhand throws by throwing beanbags into a pot of gold!
