Congratulations AP students!

Congratulations! 78 WHS students were awarded for their performance on their AP Exam. On Friday, Oct 15th Dr. Adkins and Dr. Whitt, on behalf of the school district, presented a total of $10,800 to students that earned a score of 3-5 on their AP Exam in Spring 2021.


We are looking forward to Spring 2022 AP Exams. Great Job AP students and teachers!

FAFSA frenzy

Wednesday, Nov. 10th, 5-6pm

WHS Lecture Hall

There will be a FAFSA Frenzy November 10th in the Lecture Hall at WHS from 5:00pm-6:00pm. The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid that can help families pay for college. A financial aid counselor from Missouri S&T will be onsite to explain the financial aid process and also help families complete the FAFSA. Seniors, please bring your Chromebooks and parents, please bring a copy of your 2020 tax return (1040A, 1040EZ, etc.) and social security numbers for all family members in the household.

Students, make sure you check your school email account at least a few times a week. Information and messages from Teachers, Counselors, etc. are sent there.

CCR course in Canvas for all students

We wanted to share with you information on our CCR 101 course available on Canvas for ALL students to access.


Counselors began introducing the course last year through classroom visits with a focus on resumes & Cover Letters. Our goal is to add more CCR information and encourage students to visit it more often. It is also a great resource for you to use in the classroom!


Within the course, students can find information on Resume, Cover Letters, References, FAFSA, Scholarships, Trade School, WHS Club list, College Planning, etc. Weekly Announcements are posted to include resources to help students with Post Secondary Planning. And within the course, there are Modules to help students complete items such as Resume.

S.O.S.-ACT

Counselors will continue to present the Signs of Suicide presentations to all high school students through Tiger Times during the month of November. Students learn signs of suicide risk, protective factors, and how to ACT to save a life.

Missouri Connections

Missouri Connections is a comprehensive, online, career development and planning program. The program helps students learn about their talents, skills, and interests and makes the connection between planning for continued education and the work world. The following is the schedule that students will participate in Missouri Connections.

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES: HOBY

Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) is a multi-day program that provides students with an experience that cultivates personal growth and leadership development while building new connections and friendships throughout the state. HOBY will be held in June 2022 in Jefferson City. The cost of this seminar will range from $225 - $400.


Students who are interested can pick up an application with Mrs. Wright in the counseling office. Applications are due Monday, November 22nd.
