D.A.W.G. = Dogs Assisting Wounded G.I.'s
Each year Millsap chooses a foundation to support in honor of all the courageous Veterans who served our country.
This year for our Veterans Day service project we have chosen the “D.A.W.G.” Foundation.
This organization trains both service and companion dogs for Veterans who are wounded or battling with P.T.S.D. This year’s fundraiser campaign is called “Dimes for D.A.W.G.”.
We will be collecting coins to support the needs of this organization from October 5th through October 19th. Grade level collection jars will be located in the school library so the students can see how well each grade is doing.
Any donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping us continue this wonderful tradition and supporting our Veterans.

Counselor's Corner
It is going to be a great month with many activities occurring!
First, this month’s character education word is Contentment. Contentment is deciding to be happy with what you have. Plato once said, “The greatest wealth is to live content with little.” In the pioneer days, most people only had two or three sets of clothes and maybe only one or two pairs of shoes. Most of the pioneers who headed west had everything they owned in a covered wagon. Would everything you own fit in a covered wagon? Think about your children---would all of their belongings fit into a wagon that was about 8 by 10 feet? We seem to need a lot more to be content these days. Challenge yourself and your family: If you had to pick one thing that you owned to live without what would that be?
Parents who wish to refer their child must follow the process described in the flyer entitled Horizons Identification Process. Please review website: http://www.cfisd.net/en/parents-students/academics/gifted-talented/ . If testing is appropriate, request a HORIZONS Parent Survey and Permission to Test form from your elementary counselor, Cindy Lopez at (281)517-6036. Return the HORIZONS Parent Survey and Permission to Test form no later than November 29th. Students will not be screened unless the parent permission form is turned in on time.
