Welcome to our course!
First, you should know that this course focuses on literacy, communication, and critical and creative thinking skills necessary for success in academic and daily life. You will explore a variety of texts and media and create unique products that tap into your many interests and strengths. We will seek to develop better language skills in writing and will do so by experimenting with several different forms, audiences, and purposes.

Here are the specific learning goals I plan to achieve with you this semester:
You will be empowered modern learners who are inquisitive, innovative, and able to ask questions and formulate opinions.
You will take an active role in your learning by pursuing interests.
You will become aware of and question your culturally produced assumptions about how the world is put together, and what is really of value.
You will see that clear, purposeful communication is a powerful tool for personal growth and exploration.
