1. Back and in Full Swing!
Good afternoon all,
Despite the obvious break in school (at the end of the year) I am delighted to confirm that we are all back in full swing. There have been many highlights of the week including a dragon visit in Rowan Class, taster PE and sport sessions from Gipping Valley Sports and goblin writing in Oak Class. However, the moment of the week for me was seeing the school's 'Wake & Shake' morning assembly; Mr Hurkett and the Sports Captains helped run a fantastic early morning (outside) physical shake up. It was great to see so many smiling and panting faces. The children really appeared to enjoy themselves and it brought together a real sense of community; something we've been missing for some time! I have to say Mr Morris won the most active teacher award!
Our breakfast clubs and after-school clubs have also been great. The numbers and general enthusiasm has been fantastic; we still have a few places so please do contact the office if you want to book a place for next week. Remember, all clubs are FREE this year...so take advantage and support us get the children active.
We'd also like to make you aware of another role being advertised; Vertas, the school's caterer, is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support with food being transported from Ixworth to Bardwell. Again, please ask in the office for further information.
Finally, we're looking for someone to make welly racks for each classroom. This will support our journey towards offering a wonderful forest schools provision. We will be able to supply the wood. If you can help, please let us know by talking to Mrs Allman in the office.
I look forward to sharing the experiences of next week, soon.
Have a lovely weekend!
Mr Francksen

6. Early Help Club Offer
Due to, essentially, functioning as a school bubble, we will be offering clubs from Monday 14th September. We are also delighted to announce that this year all our club provisions will be FREE of charge. Our maximum number for a club, at the moment, is 17 pupils.
Please see the Club Timetable below. If you would like to book a club, please visit your Arbor account to sign up.

7. Vacancy!
We are looking for one or more people to become a Midday Supervisor at Bardwell School. This involves supervising at lunch service and during outdoor play and learning (OPAL); to include helping the pupils, administering first aid and clearing/tidying the lunch area. You will be paid at Grade 1, £9.25 per hour and would be needed to work from midday to 1pm during term time.

9. Requests
Drones and fish
Mrs Boyd would like to ask any anglers out there if they could donate a whole fish to the class. She is also looking for someone who can legally record drone footage of the school from above and share it with her. Please contact the office or Mrs Boyd if you can help?
10. School Improvement Activity
- We've recently begun a new writing approach called 'The Write Stuff'. All staff will be receiving training in order to bring back the love, purpose and value of writing;
- Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) - we're beginning to build up our resources for our OPAL launch next term. The sandpit is in and we're planning on a range of other play areas including a digging area, construction area, water play area, den building area and performance area. Watch this space as we'll soon be asking about donations for loose parts e.g. guttering, boxes, rope, milk crates, camo nets, tarpaulin;
- We're following a maths approach called White Rose Maths. This is based upon giving children a conceptual understanding of maths by using concrete, pictorial and abstract resources.
- Our newly built curriculum is starting to take shape as we look to embed the 'Why?' this term. Please a copy of our newly constructed curriculum below.
