A message from our superintendent
GPISD Family and Friends,
Every year, the Spring semester brings the beginning of transformation and changes for our students and staff. Seniors are preparing for life outside of high school, whether to attend college, join the workforce or military. Fifth grade students are getting ready for middle school and eighth graders are ready to move to high school. It’s the time of year for staff to make plans for the next year, too—but we’ll talk more about that subject later. We still have lots of work to accomplish!
This year, our Career and Technical Education (CTE) department hosted our first “CTE University,” an event designed for eighth grade students to learn about our various CTE program offerings, as well as JROTC and Fine Arts programs. For two hours, approximately 1,750 eighth graders visited booths set up in the Ag Facility to learn about various CTE opportunities available to them as high school students.
Over 175 high school students and 45 teachers from Galena Park High School, North Shore 9th Grade Center, North Shore 10th Grade Center and North Shore Senior High provided eighth graders many hands-on activities including cooking, changing tires, interacting with robots, learning how to give a manicure and exploring the inside of an ambulance. A good time, coupled with a valuable learning experience, was had by all!
As you all know, the mission of the Galena Park Independent School District is “…to prepare students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.” Opportunities such as CTE University spark the interest of our eighth graders to pursue careers in the medical field, welding, culinary, architecture, education or law. These students are the future of our community, and Galena Park I.S.D. is determined to help them be successful inside and outside the classroom.
Events like this would not be made possible without the support and funding from local business partners. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Community Bank of Texas for sponsoring Galena Park I.S.D.’s first CTE University event.

Census 2020 Information
The Census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products and support for you and your community. Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other resources based on census data.
The results of the census also determine the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives, and they are used to draw congressional and state legislative districts.
